Crashed Helicopter

So I was on my way to the NW Airfield, when I saw a huge plume of fire, I got a little closer, when I saw it was a helicopter with zombies around it. So I am wondering, do the helicopter crashes with rare items stay on fire for awhile, or was it a player that crashed it?

I find if there are military zeds walking around the helicopter there is stuff to be looted if the area is clear of zeds or dead ones i wouldn't count on anything being there but otherwise there is decent loot to be taken
