my zoom malfunctioned?

Hi, I'm new to this game, so a quick question (yes, i did try googling and searching the forums like a good boy).

I got ambushed by a guy with winchester from a great distance and I had a hunting rifle. So I thought "haha not this time, motherfucker". I aim directly at him, then I zoom in and it zooms to a different spot. I try finding him while zooming in and I can't do it, cause it really zoomed pretty far from where I was aiming at. So long story short, I couldn't figure it out how to zoom directly at him for 10 seconds and died. Got pissed off and here I am.

Is this a bug? Arma bug or mod bug? Is this a feature? Is this just me doing something wrong? What the fuck was that thing?? :huh:

Are you using the DeadZone aim?

Like you can aim at different parts on the screen without moving the screen itself.
