Well played. You should stick with hardcore, even though the jerks you ran into run counter to the "hardcore is more friendly" theory.

Good call on everyone taking their shoes off. One suggestion in the future would be for everyone to "take a knee" and figure out who is who. Overall though, you guys were very effective as a pick up team. Have some beans.
