Tents - I can't f*cking place them

I am having massive problems placing tents.

No matter where I try to place them it always tells me I can't because the area is either not free or not even.

Can someone be so kind to explain the system to me or even give me a screenshot/video of placing/placed tents so I know what areas to look for?

They are highly buggy. Heres what ya do.

Go to place it like you normally would

It will fail, so while keeping the gear menu open move over slightly in one direction by tapping teh A or W key.

Try to place it again.

Repeat this until it places, it can take upwards of 20 tries sometimes, but youll usally get it.

Woah, calm down big boy. Tents need to be placed on really flat land. At the moment, placing tents is really hard to do because of how sensitive they are for placing in flat land. As Soldier said, just keep trying, it will eventually place.

I finally placed a tent based on what Soldier of Failure suggested.

-Find an open spot

-Open you inventory

-Right-click tent and select "Place Tent" (or whatever)

-Continue strafing left or right slowly while spamming rightclick + leftclick to place the tent. Eventually it placed my tent.

Question: I put crap into my tent and selected REARM AT TENT and SAVE OLD TENT. I made sure to save it multiple times, just to be sure. I then log off for a few hours and log back on and...no tent. It's gone. WTF!? I'm certain I'm on the right server and I'm certain of the location. Did I do something wrong or should I just chalk this one up to a glitch?

Also, I know what SAVE TENT does, but what does REARM AT TENT do?

No, really. After a restart it seems the server tries to connect again to the central database and tents usually reappear when that happens. Restart usually happen multiple times a days, about every 4-8 hrs ... depends on server.

You can ask your friendly andmin to restart or might be able to restart the server by voting.
