zhellbring 5 Posted March 27, 2014 I've been playing DayZ for a while, and experienced this "bug"However, a quick note to developer, I am now not sure at all it is a "real bug"Just my 2 cents... When we log-out, our Character sit for around 30-45sec before really log-out. In the meantime, If someone or a monster kill you. Your character will be dead, and next time you will log on, you will be a fresh re-spawn. Now that Zombie re-spawn and are more aggressive, I always log-off on 2nd+ floor of a building and never lost my character yet. Remember... A player could logon and still kill you in mean time.my suggestion to solve this would be like I've seen in another game. Add an hidden for player state: SAFE and UNSAFE. When you log-out in UNSAFE state, the game would pop-up "You are Unsafe! Are you sure?" If you click yes, you get the 45sec timer. Now, if you try in SAFE state, you just log-out. No warning. Instant save/log-out.UNSAFE would = In sight of another player/monster and/or bleeding and/or any other bad situation. In the same direction... When we log-in! We have a 10-20 sec unable to move loading graphic. Back from a server reboot/crash, This lead sometime to getting eat by zombie while loading. To resolve this, I think character should be invisible to MONSTER (Still visible to player to avoid abuse) until 30sec or until we start moving/clicking any button. KT_Cobra 22 Posted March 27, 2014 I, personally, rather like the way the game is doing it. I don't think someone should know if they are safe to log out. My buddies and I watch each other log out to assure each others' safety. I know that loners playing the game are more at risk, but it would be the same in real life. If you were to lie down and go to sleep, you wouldn't feel very safe doing so, but that's the nature of an apocalypse.I will say, however, that your idea has thought put into it. It's apparent you actually put some thought into it rather than some ideas that come through the forums, but on this one, I'll have to disagree with you.I would also fear that people would use this to their advantage in logging out. (i.e. - "Am I safe now? Let me press log out to see. Yep. I'm safe. Okay, now on to the hospital.")
JKS-Alex 79 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) include a line of sight analysis system i suppose it's pretty impossible. So with your idea server hoppers will stay near a safe building and logout instantly if threatened, so i say NO.Just yesterday we've found a bamby shooter dressed like a marine on the rail near Solny, we was there to meet a friend that just started play DayZ, when he has seen us running towards him fully equipped he started running away in panic despite our attempt to speak with him, hidden behind the first corner and started a fast logout ignoring that i was really near, when i've see him cowardly logout i've taked my mosin and placed a 7.62 in his head while he was logging out, in that moments you understand the importance of the 30 sec logout timer, now there's a bamby killer running on the beach with nothing more then a torch. and we've got a full equip in good conditions for our friend (except the helmet ;) ) be aware, cowardly and unrealistic logout may end your life.. > :( Edited March 27, 2014 by JKS-Alex
zhellbring 5 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Again for you 2 reply. I stated many point you complain. 1 trying the logout to see if its safe would result to log of you are actually safe. Also, server hopping is already prevented with the login timer. Again, no one can actually logoff if someone is in any line of sight of any player or monster. But I agree this system is not perfect... I would add a timer of 1min to be "safe" before status change to safe. Like this no one could turn a corner and logoff.
