"corrupted data" HELP !

hi guys,

 

yesterday, this weird thing happened:

 

i started steam, and after clicking on dayz, the button "play" was removed, instead there was the "install" button.

i thought, wtf ? maybe i wull just try the desktop shortcut.

the result was an error saying "corrupted data detectet".

the error window only had the "ok" option and after i clicked that, the game/error message closed and nothing else happened.

the same happened with every method of starting the game.

 

i thought, well i will just reinstall it.

 

the problem was, i thought there my be issues if i leave the old game folder where it is, so i just deleted this one.

 

 

for better understanding let me explain the situation i had before:

 

i splitted my hard drive so i have two partitions, C (for programms) and D (for data, so that i wouldnt loose all my private data like photos etc. , if a virus would attack C and i would need to renew it)

 

as i said, i normally install everything on C, and every programm asks me to install stuff on C.

 

but C was completely full ( i had like 340 mb left  (damn you photoshop collection :D ) ) so i installed it on D

 

the path was:  D:\festplatte\freizeit\dayz      (D:\harddrive\freetime\dayz)

 

 

back to the problem:

 

so i deleted the dayz ordner i mentioned above, and installed the game new to:  D:\install\spiele\dayz     (D:\install\games\dayz)

 

now i was able to click the "play" button again, but that didnt change anything, i still get the error "corrupted data detectet", i just now can start the game/error with steam.

 

so now my questions

 

why is this happening, what did i do wrong and how can i solve this problem ???

 

 

by the way: i never changed any kind of file in that dayz ordner, i never even opened it till the day i tried to start dayz via the .exe (if this is important to know)

 

 

i hope you can help me, i really want to play dayz soon again :)

If you got steam on harddrive C: and DayZ on D: , it may cause this. Also if some of the files are on other harddrive, this happens usually. Had this problem long time ago.

can i just move the ordner or do i have to reinstall again ?

i just deinstalled some crap and think that i have enough space now

I think you need to reinstall. If it doesnt work, got no idea.

now it finally works again :D

added a second game library at D and reinstalled dayz in it :) (still had not enough space on C)
