low FPS

Recommended Posts

I would put up your system specs, including graphics card, internet speed (3 mbps, 10, 18??) etc...

All of the components make up the chain, one weak link and your done. I am sure one of the many gifted computer experts on board here can steer you in the right direction; they just need the right information!!

Good luck! Well worth every ounce of agony/$$$$ to get this one going, I have not had so much fun in a game (especially one where I day far too often) in years.... hope it works out for ya!

Your pc is decent enough to run the game, but the Arma 2 engine is very cpu-intensive, so you would likely get a large framerate increase if you overclocked your Q8300.

Here's a couple of tweak guides as well:

Also, another thing is that some of the servers have been getting FPS changes. It may not be you but the server you're connected to. It gets addressed every patch, but sometimes there's still issue.

This FPS drop happens on high-end PCs also, much less frequently in newer patches, but still present. It is due to the server literally restricting your FPS based upon its processes. To minimize lag, try to find a server: Close to your location - A server that has a large player cap (These usually run better, due to higher server capabilities) - And a server that is running the newest patch -

Is all this is done, and you still have lag, it may be due to two things, your PC simply cannot run the game/mod (Run Arma 2 OA singleplayer, if that lags, then it is the mod that is slowing you down), or that the server you picked just isn't powerful, and is slowing your FPS. The trick here is to simply switch servers until you find one with nice FPS, then stick to that one.

The newest patch, 1.7.2 will be addressing some of these issues with server lag, based upon the recent changelog.
