New Users, Few Questions

My friends and I would like to play this game, but we are confused on a few things. First off, are we going to spawn together or at least near each other or will we have to find one another? Secondly, how long do maps last? Are there server restarts or is the game 24/7 constantly running?

Does that mean that I can keep respawning until it places me near my friends? And I know that there is only one map, but I don't know how the server restarts work. Do you lose everything when the server restarts or does it save all data and just refresh the server so it doesn't lag?

You won't spawn near each other unless you're lucky. You will spawn along the coast somewhere. Pay attention to the text that shows up bottom right of the screen when you spawn and it'll tell you where you are. You can use nearby landmarks to try and find each other. Or try and find a sign with a city's name on it.

There are restarts, but your character doesn't lose any gear that they were carrying. You can also use tents to store items on a server, but they can be buggy. Your character is the same on any server.
