A few questions from a new DayZ player

Thanks in advance for your answers.  I'm loving this game, been killed a few times.  I had a kid who sounded like he hadn't reach puberty say "I'll help you mister" and then proceeded to axe me to death.  Hope he enjoyed the clown mask and damaged baseball bat.  Oh well live and learn, that's on me for being trusting.

 

Questions.  What does NWAF stand for?  North West Air Field is all I can think of.  How does one play this game at night?  I couldn't see a damn thing and if I turn on a flashlight or head lamp it would seem to scream "Aim right here"

NWAF indeed stands for North-West Air Field.

That's where loads of military loot is supposed to be, given it's not looted dry.

 

Playing at night... well you can actually go and use the flashlight. It's really not that easy to spot the person who holds the thing.

A possible killer would see the light cone but not the guy who's holding it.

Alternatively, you can drop the turned-on flashlight to light up an area and cycle around it.

 

It would appear though, that many people on night servers (or at night time) would just turn up the gamma and brightness settings in the graphics settings menu.

Depending on moonlight conditions it may or may not help a lot.

If you want to play at night, be prepared to be at a disadvantage unless you turn your gamma/brightness up. I've also found that turning HDR from "Very Low" to "Low" helps vision at night (and makes the gamma/brightness glitch work better).

Ok, I'm understanding that and actually thought about doing that last night tweaking my graphics setting so that I could see better.  Here is the real question... Is there night vision gear to be had?

There is no Nvision goggles ingame currently. Hopefully never will be
