I used search, and did not found that, so sorry if it already was...and for my bad grammatic..

I suggest to make your wounds more complicated, and requirements for it's treatment more realistic.

For example:

 

(!!!)Every wound would be rotting if you will not take care about it
•Laceration
How to get it?
1.Shrapnel
2.Zombie claws
3.(if there will be such) wild animals
4.Cold weapons
Few options

1.Little scratch - you will lose blood for 10 minutes(and then stops) like - 1 drop per 5 second (small venal vessels bleeding stops after a 10 minutes,because of low rate of incoming trombocites)
2.pretty deep dmg of tissue - you will lose blood for 20 minutes(and then stops) like - 5 drops every 5 second

3.Oh i was slapped by bear which one have shark teeth on claws - some serious arteria or vena was dmged and bleeding will not stop, until you fix it

How to treat
First option can be cured by simple bandage
Second option will be gain more problems.Bandaging -will stop massive bleeding, but you will still lose 1 blood each 30 second for 5 minutes

To treat Third level you need to use needle and rope to fix vessels, both must be sterilizated, you will sew cuts.Then bandage

•••Sterelisation is required by alcohol, for example, or rotting will continue to tear your body from inside, and then to fix it you need to dmg yourself there again, clear wound and then sew it again)

 

•gunshot wounds/penentrated and made a hole
How to get?
1.Get shot

2.Penetrated by some spear(if there will be in game)
Options. A and B. A - bullet still inside the body. B - bullet path thrue
I.Damage of muscules,skin(perhaps bones)
II.Damage of muscules, skin and !visceral organs!

How to treat

I.

1.Put out bullet if got stuck inside
2.Clear wound

3.Sew it
4.Bandage

II.

1Put out bullet
2.clear wound

3.Clear visceral/thoracis cavity (pretty hard) it will cause peretonitis which one will kill you in few days

4.bandage

5.antibiotics

6.

•Complicated wounds
By dmg of tissues,braking bones and tampering of vessels

Not to ruin your excitement, but in order to do actual surgery, u have to have someone else perform it. Also, they would have to stab into u to do surgery, and from there u must recover off a few minutes. Unless it is not severe enough.

I propose, in addition to your suggestions:

-a severity system, which directly depends on the wound u have

-a more advanced bone system, movement solely determined by what bone you broke

- a system where your injury affects things around it, such as your being more sensitive to cold and heat

-a system where zombies may either scratch or tear, affecting the wound

-a system where nourishment affects the wound

-a system where blood is not the soul thing determining your health, but if it drops below a point, your dead

-a system where drugs are not used to treat anything, except infections caused by time after wound

-a system where movement and cognition are affected by wound, and time after wound

-maybe even amputations

With this, DAYZ will be the most realistic survival game in creation!! If you have any association to the development of the game, I highly suggest you read this.

- where your energy levels are determined partly by sleep, a lack of sleep means no energy

-greater food system, where some give more energy that others, while providing adverse health affects such as crashing, dehydration and more

- greater range of movement

-climbing

-operation of electronic devices of some sort

Food ideas:

-farming

-fishing
