Pristine Rotten Tomato.

Recommended Posts

My character had been walking on the line of starvation for the past twenty minutes.

It began to happen. "I'm dying of starvation." I didn't have long. Every door of every house was open in Berezino. Is this how I was going to die at last?

At last, the doors on an orange brick house were closed shut. Hope. As I pushed open the doors with my last ounce of strength, that is when I saw it.

Pristine rotten tomato.

Something about it suggested it was okay. Green means good right? A quick glance at the exterior was enough, and I was starving. Using the "Eat-all" command I warfed that tomato down and my hunger went back to orange. I was saved for now.

Then things took a turn for the worse.. "I have a funny tase in my mouth" Uh oh.

Green does not mean good.

Pristine rotten tomato.

Yarp! If you're dying, you might as well do it from hunger as well as bad food.

Good lesson and fair warning to others. I'm looking for rotting grain and fruit - along with persistent storage - as I want to craft some hooch... Man's gotta make a living in the apocalypse....

I think if you drink lots and lots of water to wash down rotten fruit, it isn't so bad. I've consumed a few dodgy apples without ill effects... before the latest patch, that is.

@Pillock: There was a rumor once that if you were poisoned in DayZ you just should eat and drink til you dance the puke-a-roochie. NOPE! All it'll do is drain water and food from your system.

If you are poisoned, once it is actually working, charcoal tabs are probably the only thing to do / take when poisoned.

Yeah, I'm not sure of the actual game mechanics behind it - I was just sharing my experience. But I would say this: eating a rotten bit of fruit might give you food poisoning, yes. But food poisoning from rotten fruit doesn't kill very many people. It ought to make you ill, and that ought to affect your ability to function in some way.  But death is a bit much. I should be able to wait an illness like that out.

pristine rotten is quite funny. is it actually MORE rotten then if it contains pristine rot?

anyway, they should just add one more condition to the normal fruits. you know, normal tomato that has rotten condition.

If you die of food poisoning depends mainly on two things: Your Hunger / Thirst / level and your health / energy / blood level.

If you are starving or dying of dehydration, eating a rotten fruit my get your hunger into the yellow again but it may kill you if you are starving, since you are losing blood (or was it health) as long as you don't eat.

Uhm, hope I made sense here... ^^
