Keep starting as a woman even after default change

As per the title my character keeps starting on all servers I choose as a Female. I have changed my default character to a male, but every time I join a new server it keeps starting me as a female.

 

 

Any solution to this, or am I just doing something wrong?

Has your female character died yet? You have to kill off your current character for the default to pertain to the new character.

Yes, once you make the change it won't happen until you respawn.

If you have killed it already but it isn't working, don't forget to hit "Default" in the character menu once you've made your character.

You could just get an actual sex-change. This will keep your game experience more relevant and factual. Or you could stop loading up a female character in the pitiful hope that you won't be KOS constantly. I suppose it depends on how important DAYZ is to you.

I actually was thinking the same thing when my wife also bought dayz and was running around with me as a female character. It seems though that she's been KOS'd just as many times as I have. Although a whole bunch more people would also offer her food and drinks lol.

It's bad wording and should be changed to "save" IMO. I've had at least two friends think that it was a "reset to default" button and not save their characters then wonder why they were an Asian chick every time they respawned.
