There are a multitude of ways to get music to play over direct chat, etc. You shouldn't have to buy anything to do so.

Try setting your soundcard to record 'What you Hear' instead of the mic.

its called stereomix. it basically streams what is being heard through "your speakers"  so for instance. Im playing music and my "Input/Mic" is set to "stereomix" by default when i key up in game to talk you will hear the music.  LOL @ digital audio cables comment

"What you hear" = Creative. Have a look for "Stereomix" if you have a sounddevice from another manufacturer.

Can't you just play music through your speakers and transmit it over direct communication? You could play it through youtube or with ipod speakers.
