Chaingunfighter 917 Posted March 14, 2014 The reason I carry the revolver is because of this. They should spawn with a single empty mag some of the time.Yeah, revolvers & guns like the Mosin, IZH-43 & Blaze 95 are useful in that you don't need a magazine/speedloader to fully load them. However, they have lower capacities than most other weapons of their type so it makes it a harder choice among weapons with magazines. Right now they are more accurate but when the SVD comes it will probably be around the same as the other 7.62x54R rifles but obviously is magazine loaded. Then again, i'm not specifically for balancing the weapons as getting the gun you want should actually take some effort, but I do think it makes a fairly good passive balance to higher-capacity weapons. aknar 13 Posted March 14, 2014 Right now it seems like most people who had guns removed all the magazines from the premises, went down the street and threw them into ditches and hedgerows, never to be found again.Logical? No.If we want to make sense, magazines for firearms should usually spawn somewhere near those firearms. Unfortunately a lot of people don't like that idea because it makes it "too easy" to find a functional gun. Ha. If it's "too easy" to get guns, you could, you know, reduce the spawns... What I would find logical, is that the firearms you would find would mostly be on the infected. When the infection struck, everyone would obviously take their weapons and prepare to run. The munitions and guns would then be safe-guarded by dangerous zombies that often gather in hordes in towns and will infect you if they manage to hit you. Infected would once more be in main to the game. The fire-arms looted on their corpses would be damaged by the dirt and weather conditions. I don't think it's keeping a gun slung over your shoulder and staying out in storms all night near the coast with salty air is the best condition for a gun. Also, attacking the zombie with a melee weapon could also damage the gun. Since ammo is also kept in a soggy and most likely dirty pockets, chances of jam would be great. thedogfoodyayho 295 Posted March 16, 2014 I see what you mean brother, but many people do own handguns. Handguns are a prime choice for target shooters, while rifles and shotguns are made more for hunting and skeet. I agree with you that civilians would have more shotguns and rifles, but honestly would they really have a shotgun or rifle in the middle of a large Russian City??? I think handguns would be a more viable option in this game to add another aspect of realism, and skill.People in Chernarus are poor as shit, and can't afford a $1000 .45 (Or $4000 Blazer, either) to shoot targets as they need their guns to put food on the table. Rifles are Cheaper, more effective, and in the case of the Mosin/SKS ammo is pouring out of Warehouses in the formor Warsaw Pact as they are replaced by 5.45 or 5.56 and 7.62x51. Ontop of that, they made 37 Million Mosin's, compaired to (One of the most common pistols) 2-3 Million TT-33s, 2 Million Nagant Revolvers, and probably alot less than 50,000 FNXs so far. Mosins sell for around $100USD and ammo is around $5USD for a 20rnd paper package, straight from "Spam Cans", while SKSs are around $500USD but ammo is more expensive in the US than elsewhere. In chernarus, these weapons where actaully used, they are probably cheaper. And for actaul use in Chernarus, Pistols probably came secound to rifles.
