Darwinism -a DayZ AAR-

Recommended Posts

(So I have decided to make my first DayZ AAR in text only I may add pics from over the internet but I wanted it journal style . So for example I don't have a camera I can't take screenshots but if I find a book or magazine with the weapon in it I can tear the picture out and put it in the journal. That'll be added instead of snapshots I plan on my next AAR, once I'm finished with this one, having them however so be prepared :) also there may be a couple grammatical errors, I will try to improve over the course of this AAR, much help would be appreciated

P.S. It'll help if you read this with a Russian accent ;))

In Elektro

Today mother got me a journal to write in, at this time I'm only sixteen years old. Recently we moved from Moscow to Chernarus due to the economy. We got a quaint little apartment near a hospital, the landscape is beautiful but the weather is rather gloomy, hopefully things will look up for us.

Outside of Elektro

I have no idea of what's going on, it was midnight when we awoke. My father was slamming on the door with his fist, I wondered why the neighbors hadn't complained yet, he was yelling that something terrible had happened, people with rabies, or mad cow disease, he claimed they were attacking people in the street, and that soon after the ones who were bitten would follow the same path. We didn't have time to collect our things, my mother and I, so we grabbed a flashlight my parents gave it to me, then we ran out the door and down the steps. As we were running I heard a snap then a scream I looked back my father had tripped on a stair, his leg hit an awkward angle, it had snapped; the bone from underneath the kneecap had tore through his flesh, blood was flowing everywhere a piece of the ligament was hanging out of the gaping wound in his leg. My mother tried helping him....that's when it happened, one of the creatures hit her head with tremendous force I saw her skull gain an indent most likely a fracture or it had con-caved. Terrified I made it outside it was like an apocalypse the maddened creatures eating human flesh, tearing out intestines, people killing others for money or any other goods, and at the same time any of the monsters as they could. I ran out of Elektro through fields through roads until I came to a shore and collapsed....as I write this I contemplate on what tommorow brings, God be with me.

^Elektro the city where my character escaped the picture is taken from a printed off newspaper from the salesmen. (FOr some reason it won't let me actually post the picture if I could get info on how to do so that'd be great)

Not bad for Starters. Try to use Paragraphs in order to make it easier to read. When you have a real long text, most people won't read it, unless it looks somewhat organized.

I like how we are getting a bit of Background Story. This could be interesting. Will you end the journal if your character dies and start a new one once you spawn again?

Yes that or the bandit that looted him will start the journal (I have a bandit character in the making in a HC server) that's my backup plan

Day 1

August 17, 2014

Coast Line

As I awoke on the damp ground near the coastline, I could hear grunts and growls in several directions. As I looked I saw men, but they weren't normal, no these 'people' had pale grey skin, sickly milky eyes, bloody mouths and what seemed like profuse bleeding originating from their nose. They'd twitch without warning and looked around as if they were birds or even flies when they rub their head with their legs; I tried standing up slowly but fell back down my blasted legs had fallen asleep!

Worse than that the creatures were starting to look in my direction, one of them saw my predicament I heard him screech in my peripheral vision there was a body sprinting at me at full steam. In fear my body was flooded with endorphin's, I quickly got up, but that proved to be a mistake. In fear I tripping over my feet, and falling to the ground, I regained my composure running to the road. One of the monsters had ran in front of me I looked to my right, then behind me, I was surrounded on all sides!

Out of nowhere I hear a crack a zombie fell in front of me, later a gunshot followed suit. I had no idea if if the survivor meant to hit me or the zombie but I didn't care, now I have an opening. I sprinted through the gap that appeared doing zig zag maneuvers. If this man meant to shoot me I wouldn't give him the satisfaction!

I'm not sure if luck was on my side or if it was divine intervention, either way the gap that opened was facing the North. I managed to enter a forested area surrounded by trees I lost the creatures in it as well as not hearing, or seeing the person that had shot. Soon after the adrenaline was leaving my body, with my heart pounding away like a jackhammer, a searing hot iron drying my throat, and a gnawing hunger in my belly, I realized I need supplies, quickly.

Day 1

August 17, 2014

Unknown Location, thought to be 800 meters east of sniper hill

Today has been very productive! Earlier today I had heard what sounded like two gunshots. At first I was unsure if it was a gunfight or if it was people preying upon each other. It made no difference, I decided to forage ahead even deciding to head near shots fired to see what had happened. I was at an outline of trees on a hill, looking out upon Elektro. I had a difficult time looking upon that city unknowing if my mother had gotten away or not, but I assume she's dead I doubt I could have helped my parents anyways, but it still brought tears to my eyes.

I took in my bearings after getting a hold of myself this was not the time to mourn yet. As I gazed upon the hill I saw a body sitting there, I quickly went prone looking to see if it made movement as far as I could tell it didn't. I slowly crawled down to it when I got there I saw a man in military clothing, what looked like combat boots, a hunters backpack, and a Mosin sitting next to him, upon his head there was a ballistic helmet I think that's what it's called from the war shows I saw on the military channel.

Making up my mind on what to do I proceeded to see what was on the dead survivor (ironic). His equipment looked to be straight out of the store still in pristine condition except for the helmet it looked as though there was a huge bullet hole in the top. I decided I needed his items more than he did, I stripped his body of his possessions, putting on the pants, the shirt, the tactical vest, putting the backpack on my back, tying the combat shoes on my feet, and grabbing the Mosin.

Deciding not to stay once I was ready and geared up I headed back in the woods until I thought I was safe from prying eyes. I rummaged through the backpack in it I found three bandages, three morphine, two saline, some beans, a filled canteen, and pop. Quickly filling up on food and drink I instantly felt much better, rummaging deeper I found plenty of Mosin ammo, and what looked to be a pistol. Making sure no dirt was in the guns or ammo I loaded both finding extra pistol clips in my vest, so far things are looking up; I have food, water, ammo and weapons to use it for protection. I may just make it out of here alive.

Day 2

August 18, 2014

Location, Cherno

This day, unfortunately has led to...quite a disaster. As I left the woods when my food was running low I had been chased by hoards of zombies that were listlessly walking throughout this land. As I was chased from bloodthirsty zombies I had accidentally ran into Cherno. I at first was going to silently sneak in and out with food but...the zombies got a whiff of me. As I was sprinting heart pounding, legs weakening, several cracks filled the air, I was in no shape to fight and so I knew if these people were going to kill me they'd find it easy to do. However fate must be on my side again I thought as the zombies fell and the men walked out of hiding, however they were bandits! Holding me up they made me strip naked, took all of my weapons, ammo, food, and clothes, all they let me keep is this journal. Hopefully I can find some pants, a shirt, boots, socks, and even underwear, it's getting quite cold out.

I think I saw this naked man walking through Cherno.
From the size of his junk, he'd been walking some days in the freezing cold.

As he was looking quite bewildered, I threw a can of tactical bacon wrapped in a yellow coat. Don't know if he grabbed it, or if I knocked him out by it.
