FN Fal spawning randomly?

On my way back from Cherno, randomly I found a FN Fal, I thought they only spawned near heli crash sites? anyone have this happen to you before?

Yep, found one in a Fire Station in Cherno too. Someone left there without mags.

The fact is that it's too hard to find FAL ammo, so a lot of people simply leave them around.

As far as I can tell from poking around in the code, ammo for the FAL only spawns with the weapon. Kind of like how AKs were until recently.

Yeah it's annoying. Weapons have a random chance to have 0-3 mags with them when you find them.

My friend has found an FN FAL in barracks on NWA, maybe they're spawning in regular buildings now...

I don't understand the obsession with the Fal. I have only come across one so far at a heli site and it had no ammo so admittedly I haven't used one yet. But from looking at the weapon comparison charts I just dont see why people love them so much.

FN FAL - Rare -assault rifle- FAL Mag 20, Damage High, body shots 1, range 400m, No Zeroing, Moderate Rate of fire, High recoil, High noise.

It seems like the AKM (a far more common weapon) is actually better.

AKM, Common, assault rifle, AKM mag 30, damage High, body shots 1, range 400m, zeroing yes, High rate of fire, recoil High, noise High.

The AKM has higher capacity magazines, more common ammo, higher ROF, same range recoil and noise.

So is there something missing from those charts that makes a difference in these weapons?

I found lots of as50s and M4 CCO SDs (like 15 of each with tons of ammo), and coyote bags, etc in cherno once, I think the server/a player was hacking, so I did not dare take any of them.

Maybe a hacker did the same thing on your server?

My friend was near the gun when I found it, I was getting him morphine from Cherno and a bloodpack since he broke his legs or something he alt tabbed and when he came back he was dead which made us worry but his body was no where to be found and the FAL and three ammo mags were beside him... :L

People drop it at places where other weapons spawn, when they realize the FAL just isn't that good, and they don't have any ammo for it anyway.

Seen this as well... was ok though as there were 3 of us and only one was down for checking the stand so made for some chuckles as we watched him attempt to sneak to it...

After using both the akm and fal it seems to me that the fal is a bit quieter. I may be wrong though. Of course, the fal with nv scope is awesome mainly because of the scope.. But yeah a normal fal vs an akm.. Not a big difference I don't think. I found a fal with three ammo clips though so I'm giving it a go. I like it better than the akm generally but not sure exactly why. Seems quieter like I said and I loathe the akm sights for some reason. The fal iron sights aren't THAT much better but yeah. The akm on full auto is kinda useless IMO and the three shot burst of the fal I kinda like. I mostly use it on single though.

When you find a stand with that many zombies near it, it usually means something good is up there. Like a weapon or multiple weapons. Usually just AKs and such though.

For me, appearance (yeah, I'm vain.) and the iron sights. Plus the FAL has burst, which is nice for not splurging ammo.

I was lucky enough to find a fn fal at a chopper crash with four mags of ammo. As a weapon I would say that the sights are better on it than on an akm. The lack of available ammo is mostly okay for me as I mainly use my sidearm for taking down zeds and generally try to be stealthy. I have not gotten into a firefight with it yet but I can safely say although I like it better than the akm. I will probably ditch it when I find a decent m4 or other military rifle without ironsights. I always figured if I ran out of ammo for it I would just use an akm or ak74. This could very well be the scenario in which they have been found in other areas where other military rifles spawn.
