"Veteran" Survivors

Recommended Posts

So, Currently, your base Character is absolutely no different than a player who has been alive since release. Since the story is that you've washed up from a Ship or Plane wreck, wouldn't you be "Soft" from being on the ship that long?

My suggestions here are to add more reasons to stay alive, without  being unrealistic or OP.

Humans are mentally fragile. We can't go around getting shot at and just be fine. After your first few Firefights, Zed attacks, and especially kills, you should Vomit after coming down from the adrenaline rush. Also, this shpuld increase during Night fights. I'm not suggesting this to reduce PvP, it goes both ways. If a bunch of bullets land near you, and blow someone next to you's head off, splattering brains around tge room, your not going to be fine. However, after you see this a few times, your player will get less and less likely to get sick afterwards. During your first and secound firefight and Zombie encounters, your player should panic, reducing  your accuracy, increasing sway, ect.

Bodies. Giant piles of them are all around Elecktro. While they might not appear so, Irl they would be torn apart. Unlike getting in combat, your not going to have an Adrenaline rush, so you'll vomit after looting or being near Bodies. Again, after being around them more, your character will become more resistant to vomiting until they won't at all.

Hearing. After many hours in-game, your character may say "I think i hear someone nearby" or "I hear footsteps." But zombies will also activate this. Also, you may be able to say "I hear Shotgun fire" or "I think i hear a Pistol fireing". This would also help Deaf players.

More tolerance to pain. Hopefully, Pain from getting shot will have some effect in the future, reducing your vision, accuracy, running speed, ect. But getting injured and healed several times will begin to reduce this effect.

Faster running/Getting in shape. If we've been sitting on a ship for months, even years, we probably won't be able to run across the entire South Zorgia with no breaks. At first, ypu should be able to sprint no more than two minutes, but continuing to Rest, move, repeat and keeping up a healthy diet would increase the speed you can run. Also, if you continue to keep jogging after being extremely worn out You'll eventually collapse. From sitting for long periods, you shpuld be Stiff, especially if you were lying on the the ground. This reduces a Sniper's ability to dash off after firing a shot.

These are all things that you end up.doing in-game, and each scenario you survive will get you closer to a "Perfect" Survivor, who is resistant to pain, fatigue, and panic, and able to run long distances.

This is all i can think of right now, but i'll be happy to put up anyone else's ideas as long as they're not ridiculous, game breaking, or pointless.

I would just consider this cheating. I know there are a few deaf players, but there's no reason to help everyone out by doing that. You should learn to hear it better yourself. Situational awareness.

Why? You don't throw up after adrenaline rushes in real life? Having driven motocross my whole life I've never thrown up after a race.

Neither did I throw up after I was almost hit by a car.

I would like a link to a place where it says this. A trustworthy place that is.

While in reality, people are indeed fragile and have individuall psycology,if we implement

the things you suggested, sure they would increase the realism/authenticity factor,

but they would take a large toll from the overall gameplay value and experience.

Overall it's just not possible to demonstrate something from a psycological point of view in game.

But concerning fitness, stamina and strenght,i really want to see some kind of individuall skill system.

(eg:stamina for running long distances can increase-strenght according to how much you carry can increase)

I agree with you in that a survivor should suffer some effects from being shot at or from zombie attacks - effects from the decline of adrenaline and the realization of what just happened.  However, this shouldn't take place until several minutes after the event occurs.

However, I must disagree that your player should have SUCH huge effects from the start.  The idea of not being able to run long enough to get away from zombies might end up with a lot of bambi's being killed.  With that said, I DO think zombies should play a MUCH more agressive role in the game.  Players need to fear them.  Right now they're not much more dangerous to an experienced player than a glitchy building.

It would depend on what the character was before the outbreak if they do add such a system as that. Say if one was a paramedic or surgeon, they would be use to seeing massive amounts of gore. Or a police officer or soldier who do get involved in firefights, they should be used to them. If further in depth character creation such as a story is added then it would greatly enhance the game

Your idea would improve Dayz's real life survival mentality that the game is trying to put out.

The game should make you panic, not your character. If my character just stops responding appropriately, it would jar me out of any sort of immersion. I'm generally against anything that takes control away from the player, aside from wounds.

The goal is to immerse the player in the world, not create realistic characters that run around and interact with the environment separately from the player.
