Starting at night?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

When I start without a weapon during day light hours I sneak and then run around buildings if I get zombie aggro.

At night the former is difficult because you cant see the zombies and the later isnt possible as you cant see where your going with the flashlight bouncing up and down. What am I suppose to do?

A decent community we have, do we? So devoted to be helpful.

Try to slow down your pace during night times. (Can apply to day as well)

If you are aware of your surroundings and you know you can run unseen do it with the light off. Just slow down to a walk every 20 meters or so to switch it back on and scan your front sector. Then off - rinse repeat.

Since it is dark the Zombies have a harder time to spot you as well. Try focusing on the sound you make. Don't worry about the light. They can not link the light source with food. So if Zombies are around keep the lamp on and sneak past them.

If you stumble over some cans and need to run, then try not to with your lamp on. Just do it like I explained above with switching it on and off to get your bearings. Might be tough with someone eating your leg while you fiddle around with the lamp. Best is to look for chemlights to illuminate your surroundings even when your lamp is off. Makes a chase not a blind flight.

this. plus listen for zombie noises to help determine your travel speed and posture.

also, it's risky, but if i'm in one area that has multiple confirmed enterable buildings i'm going to check out, i'll toss a flare. this serves 2 purposes:

1.) it draws the zombies towards the flare

2.) it provides a pretty good radius of ambient light to help me navigate and loot.

however, it also paints a large target on the area for any bandits. so if you're looking for some excitement it helps in that regard cause you may have a firefight in your future. otherwise loot asafp and then get away fast.
