TexRoadkill (DayZ) 0 Posted June 24, 2012 Is survival enough of a goal to give this game enough replay value?I've played the game for a few lives and keep hitting the same fun plateau. Once you have collected enough stuff to fill up your pack and survive for awhile what are you supposed to do for fun? In real life you would go hole up until you got hungry/thirsty/sick but what fun is sitting around in a virtual forest waiting to catch the flue? There is no point in scavenging or stealing stuff that you can't fit in your bag unless it's better stuff but let's be honest, virtual beans taste just as good as virtual pasta. There are no other ways to interact with players other than talking and shooting. There is no way to really make any mark on your world by rebuilding or destroying what's left of civilization or at the very least building a lean to in the woods. It seems like the only design choices then are to either make it next to impossible to ever reach that comfort level and force the player to constantly be scavenging or add a bunch of other stuff into the game to give players something to do beyond PvP :DI love the work you guys are doing, it's been a new and interesting experience! evotech 0 Posted June 24, 2012 dayz is more of a proof of concept that anything, wait untill devs figure out that this is a cool game and make something more complete in their own engine

Survival, albeit a core part of the gameplay, shouldn't be your overlying goal.Look on these forums, there are a ton of groups that enjoy roleplaying. Try taking survivors hostage or robbing them. djkling 5 Posted June 25, 2012 Well, as a sandbox I'd like to see them use the Arma2 mechanics to allow taking of towns to stop Zed respawns (at least within the town), and this should also stop the loot spawns. This would give bases of operation, but you'd still need to go and find stuffs, rearm, food, water, etc... it could be a nice little bit of fun, and would encourage joining up with eachother :)

kutuup1989 4 Posted June 25, 2012 Watch "The Road". When the world as we know it ends there's nothing to live for except for keeping the flame and carrying on down that road :P
daze23 549 Posted June 25, 2012 as it is now you have to make your own goals. I heard everyone likes to meet up at Stary Sobor and play twister. at least I think that's what those contorted bodies on the floor were doing...

All I see are players too busy shooting each other to make any kind of role to play.
Brenelael 1 Posted June 25, 2012 Although Rocket does have definite plans to implement more sandbox features down the road to inspire people to work together there are still plenty of things to do in the game at it's current state. As others in this thread have pointed out you are only limited by your own imagination. Be creative and you'll find plenty of things you can do.
djkling 5 Posted June 25, 2012 kill all zeds in town, no more spawns (zeds OR loot) and you'd have payer defined towns. Maybe trading posts. But without loot spawns people will need to branch out for food, ammo, etc. You could even have occasional events where Zeds come and try to retake the town. This happens in warfare mods in multiplayer...

If that doesn't interest you, feel free to try some of my suggestions!
