Hello, 

 

This is my first post.  Before I list some problems i have been having, I would just like to say that I am a big fan of this game...looking forward to completion.

 

For the past few weeks I have been having some big problems that have made the game 100% unplayable.

 

When I log into the game I search for servers with less than 30 ping.

 

When I find a server and login, the game is completely blurry...can't see anything. To fix this problem, I hit esc - configure - video...as soon as i click on "video" the resolution corrects itself and I can see clearly...then close out of the menu and can start moving around.  I cannot open doors, or pick up items, or put a weapon in my hands, or move items in my inventory.  I am currently stuck inside a military barracks at the west landing strip.  I have been here for more than a week and cant do anything.  I have played around with video settings...set everything to "normal", 50%.  I believe my comp meets the requirements to play the game: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, Q8200 @ 2.34GHz, 8 GB.  All of my other games work perfectly: TF2, L4D2, The Witcher, WOW, Battlefield.

 

When I first try to login to a server, I have to wait for 300 seconds...watching the timer tick down...8 times out of 10, I get kicked and returned to the server menu.  If the game loads up, there are more problems.  Usually within 2-5 minutes, i get a red chain, a counter appears on my screen which says something like, "no signal" as it counts from 0 to 160 and then disconnects me from the server, returning me to the server menu, or, all of a sudden my screen will freeze for a couple of seconds and then it goes completely black.  While the screen is black I can hear the regular game sounds...I can move around, i can hear all the sounds...I just cant see anything but black.  The only thing I can do at this point is ctrl+alt+del, terminate the game and then reload and go through the same process until I get annoyed and turn the game off.  fyi - these crashes happen 100% of the time.  I haven't been able to get out of the building I am in for over a week.

 

When I first started playing the game it worked great.  Now it is unplayable.

 

Before these problems began, 2-3 weeks ago, I had accumulated a good inv supply.  I found that when I filled up one bag, 35 slots, I could put the full bag on the ground, pick up an empty bag, and then put the full bag into the empty bag, and I would have 10 slots left over, then I could repeat the process with another empty bag.  I was carrying 5 bags, totalling about 225 slots full of stuff.  At one point last week, I was able to put the bag I was carrying on the ground, thinking, great! I can finally do something.  But the bag disappeared and never came back...so i lost everything I had...guns, ammo, food, carrying cases...everything.  

 

Can anyone help?  I really want to play the game and it is incredibly frustrating.  Everyday I get home from work hoping the game will work this time...nope!

 

Can anyone offer some advice?

Well first off it appears when you log in that you have blood loss, that's why you have blurry vision.  The rest of you issues, opening doors, switching weapons, moving inventory around etc is desync.  It's gotten really bad on the stable version.  The red chain that you see with the message saying "No Messaged Received" is the server restarting, that's just bad luck on your part if you just joined the server.  The timer is to prevent server hopping.  You need to stay on a server for about 30 mins to not get this timer.  Unfortunately crashes count with this timer

The main problem is the major desync that's occurring between your character and the hive with all the loot your are carrying logging into a server.  I found this out the hard way myself a while back when I figured out one could nest containers, backpacks, whatever inside one another.  The blurry screen on the other hand is most likely the result of zed's beating the crap out of you while logging in and out.  You're close to death at this point.  Unfortunately, death may be the best solution for you if you cannot clean up the contents of your backpack, vest, etc.

 

Sorry, missed the part about you dropping your backpack at one point.  Are you sure it made it to the ground?  I had a server two weeks ago with such a de-sync problem that I couldn't tell if I was dropping or picking up an item.  The game would just lock up at that point and would need to enter task manager to close out the application manually.  This continued for an hour, cussing out the respawn timer and lost my M4 in the process as the server rebooted.

I'm not quite sure the blurry screen is blood loss.  The health of my character is good.  Fully hydrated and energized, no evident body damage.  The last time a zombie made me bleed I bandaged myself up right away..in game, does the body reproduce blood over time? or do we have to get blood from an outside source?  Is there something on the screen that would indicate I am suffering from blood loss?

 

As for the connection and inventory issues, if the problem is desync, is there anything i can do to correct the problem?...aside from starting a new character?

If you're full and hydrated, blood will regenerate. If you have full blood, food and hydrated, health will regenerate

Try logging onto a low ping <50 low populated server early in the day, morning preferred and let your charter sit there and see what you spawn with.  Then check your ping, bandwidth and desync numbers.  If they stay stuck on all zero's after 5 minutes then your not connecting correctly to the hive.  You can try to drop your gear, exit out and respawn on the same server.  The problem is if your gear is causing the problem you may not be able to log in correctly still and will need to go to another server to clean things up (gear most likely lost).  btw, do you know what your bandwidth numbers were/are?

You're posting on a thread that has no use for a search function. He is having a unique situation, and he is new. It's also the fact that you're posting it on multiple threads within a certain time frame, half of which have nothing to do with a search. Actually, the search function DOES apply to his situation because I have seen the same topic brought up many times.  It doesn't matter how frequent I post something as long as it is relevant to the thread.  Stop trying to mini mod because some people obviously agree with me too.

Hello again,

 

k, I thought I would share my  most recent login experience,

 

About an hour ago, I logged into the game.  Found a <30 ping server and was able to login to the game.  When the scene opened I was on the upper floor of the military barracks.  My screen was a big blur so I hit esc to open the menu, clicked "configure", clicked "video", then my screen was crystal clear, click on "close", clicked on "close" again, then "close" again to get out of the menu, and back to the game.  So now, I can see everything crystal clear, fully energized and hydrated, no indication that I am injured in any way.  I decided to wait for a few minutes before I started moving around. Items started to appear on the floor around me, ie handcuffs, can of tuna, can of beans and a bag.  When I point my cursor at the items, nothing happens.  Normally there would be some sort of text like "take handcuffs" or "take canned tuna".  I tried moving around after a few minutes, approached a door leading into a room with sleeping cots, when I tried to open the door nothing happened.  I walked back to the items on the floor, still couldnt pick them up.  I crouched in the corner of the room and left the game unattended while i went outside for a cigarette.  When I came back in, 5-10 minutes later, I had been kicked from the game, and had to click an "ok" button to confirm the server change.

 

So, I logged in to the same server again. The game loaded up right away without having to wait 300 seconds.  About 10 seconds after the scene opened up, before I had a chance to correct the video blurry problem, my screen went black.  Waited for a minute or two. Still black.  I could hear my character moving around, foot steps and other sounds, but screen still was black.  Nothing I could do.  I hit ctrl+alt+del to go to task manager and terminate the game.

 

I loaded up the game again and logged into a different server with 39 ping.  When the game started I checked my ping, bandwidth, desync, here is what showed:

 

Ping:  41     43     45

Bandwidth:  225     231     235

DeSync:  360

k, so I just logged in again and within 10 seconds I was kicked from the game and had to click "continue" to confirm the server change.

 

logged back in right away to the same server, there was a long pause "please wait...", it was a few minutes.  When the game loaded "you are dead".

 

No idea how i died...someone probably read my posts and found me, lol!

 

Anyway, it may have been a blessing because I had to respawn and now I can play again.  When I respawned I checked my stats:

 

Ping:  52     57     62

Bandwidth:  2330     2394     2475

DeSync:   0

 

5 minutes later,

 

Ping:  50     53     56

Bandwidth:  1587     1617     1587

DeSync:   0

 

5 minutes after that,

 

Ping:  76     82     85

Bandwidth:  958     983     1017

DeSync:   0

 

Played for 15-20 minutes after respawn

and no blurry screen or disconnection issues!

Good to hear you're up and running, and just think of all the fun you're going to have getting geared up again. Try to stay away for excessive nesting of containers/ within one another as much as possible.  Also, spawning into any military facility is not something I would recommend in the future.  Just too much traffic if something goes wrong, even on low population servers. Hoppers are always hitting them.

Dude when you first log in and have the blurry screen its a small bug been around for ages, so for quick fix just press escape/configure/video settings, and you should imediately see the video clear up then exit the video menu and play,

I try not to get too snarky here in the forums, but you fine Sir are ignorant of the mechanics of this game and are providing inaccurate, incomplete information with this comment.
