Why am I spawning in different places?

I was on my way to Electro and was about halfway there. Then the connection went and I lost the server. I joined a new server (not a hardcore one) and I was all the way back on the northern coast, I had to start the journey again! Has anyone noticed this?

My guess: Your character was still there for 30 seconds after you crashed and you probably got popped.

IMMEDIATELY log out and try logging back in.  Don't move, pick up items, anything... if you do you may never get you're old character back.  I've gon from full geared to bambi for no reason, logged out and back in, and been returned to character I had  :thumbsup:

Actually no, I was a fresh spawn. I probably died, although I don't remember there being any zombies around (and anyone who kills a fresh spawn with the log out animation is the worst!)

 

edit: It just happened to me again. I lost the connection, got dropped and then rejoined about 1000 metres from where I was dropped. Now I've figured it out. I respawned in the place where I started losing the connection, it turns out you can travel pretty far in 60 seconds.

Yes I did, I edited my last post with what I think happened.

I have 2 characters at the moment based on different servers I play on.

Annoying as hell when I am trying to play as my main character.
