Our way to longevity?

Recommended Posts

I'm playing since 50+ hours now, so i'll try to give you my impressions, if you care.

At first i was astonished with the game concept, and i am still, but now i've started thinking about longevity. And i mean here in alpha, before outstanding features will be added.

1) For me, the very first longevity element was the game itself, the survival experience. I think for everyone who likes this game this is a common phase.

2) Then, i've struggled around for some gear (cheap one mostly, but ive got a sks and thats ok).

3) Then, i've learned the food-blood-health system, and appreciated, and adjusted my playing accordingly

While i'm still around to improve my gear, i feel like i already owned the survival challenge in its alpha version. It could take even less time, should i've been less careful. A day will come when i'll be satisfied with my gear too.

That being said, i feel like the actual game balancing/layout is strategic, since devs know that keeping people busy involves adding a "pvp zone" (good pvp environment, good spawns, etc.) to create the alternative when you go further these first 3 steps.

So i wonder: what's next? Is it there a valid alternative to stepping into sniper activites? Is it there any decent-geared guy whose purpose is other than pvp?

Loads of them. But they take fire in most cases or get attacked by newspawns with crowbars, so they become triggerhappy.

If I'll bump in you, I will treat you as an enemy as long as you've not proved me wrong. Don't like this, but this is the only way it works.

Again I do feel this is something that will re-organize itself in time, DayZ as it stands not is lacking in content and while I love the game it is boring at times.  It's something that future content will address and I'm really looking forward to, but as of right now there isn't a great deal to do.

Of course i would too, but there's still a big difference between being careful or suspicious when encountering people, and campering a tower eyes on the scope.

Just to be clear: the fact i'm mentioning sniper activites does not mean i want to make another topic about kos etc.
