Mr.Shiface 0 Posted March 4, 2014 Hello community, I have tried for so long to make this work but now, I need your help. I have two DayZ accounts, one for me and one for my son. We bought the game early when the pre-alpha was released. However my sons account seem to have failed completely somehow since he always gets the error message "Session lost" everytime he tries to connect to a server.I have tried to verify the file integrity, I tried to remove and re-install the game and nothing worked. However ,I did get it to work eventually on his client (computer) by logging in with my Steam account and thereby using my credentials. So I am thinking that it must have something to do with his CD-key I bought on Steam. He have had this problem for a long time now and I spent hours in trying to fix it somehow but now I'm getting quite frustrated. Have anyone had the same problem or know what to do and whom to contact about this problem? Could someone please help me? I dont want to purchase the game again just to get a new CD-key, it doesn't seem fair :(
MrAkenatom 16 Posted March 4, 2014 for now i think the saved characters are stored on your computer, may be going on some kind of conflict between them, try to log his account on a different PC, looks like there's no problem with the CD-key
brazorf 46 Posted March 4, 2014 I have two DayZ accounts You mean steam accounts, right? I'm not sure, but i think you can bind one copy of the game to one steam account. So, 2 accounts => 2 purchase
Mr.Shiface 0 Posted March 4, 2014 Hi MrAkenatom, Thanks for your quick reply and your effort in my problem here :) I have now tried my sons steam-account om my PC (a PC he have never used before with his Steam account) and the result was the same: "Session lost"It seem to only confirm my previous apprehention that there is something wrong with the key itself :/ Do you have another idea? I payed twice :)
MrAkenatom 16 Posted March 4, 2014 unfortunately I have no idea, thought it was a conflict between the two accounts
Jolunn 54 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) Not implying cheating but have you checked your VAC status on Steam. Could possibly be firewall blocking it. Is it a wireless connection and what is the ping showing on the servers you're trying to join? Edited March 4, 2014 by Jolunn
GpB311 236 Posted March 4, 2014 Im sorry I dont have any further tips for you, but I just wanted to say thanks for this not being another "Everyone kills me, I just want to be friends, Im taking my hardhat, going home, and never playing again!" thread.... Chucknorris405 83 Posted March 4, 2014 I think your best bet is to contact steam support at this point. Only other thing i can think of trying is to disable your firewall and internet securities and see if that helps.
Mr.Shiface 0 Posted March 5, 2014 Not implying cheating but have you checked your VAC status on Steam. Could possibly be firewall blocking it. Is it a wireless connection and what is the ping showing on the servers you're trying to join? Hi and thanks for your answer. I was not aware of anything called VAC on Steam but now I read all about it. I will check this later when im back home (currently at work :) ). You might be on to something here.I am not a cheater but I know that my son was globally banned from DayZ mod (Arma II) after having his CD-key stolen (I was next beside him when it happened and I can confirm he did not hack) and BattleEye support later confirmed that his key was used for hacking) so maybe that could have affected the Steam VAC-system to? Thanks for the tip, I'll let you know the progress on this lead.

Only other thing i can think of trying is to disable your firewall and internet securities and see if that helps. Yeah, I think I will try to after I checked the VAC-thing that was mentioned above. Even though I do not know how to contact them but I'll figure something out I guess ;) The firewall should not be an issue as I have tried to disable it without any changes. We are on the same LAN connected using CAT 6 cables and obviously the same router to :) I know that my ISP connection causes packet loss over the limit of what one might expect but it still works for me. Anyway, thanks for your reply on this issue :)

Thanks for the tip, I'll let you know the progress on this lead.the battleeye Ban is different from VAC Ban, BE bans you from the game, VAC bans your steam account,i've been banned from DayZ MOD too (BE), and i can normally play DayZ SA
Mr.Shiface 0 Posted March 7, 2014 Ok, I've got a chance to check this up and it seems as though the case is closed! My son got a VAC ban for DayZ. Some games on Steam platform puts a VAC-ban on the Steam-account and some games (like DayZ puts a VAC-ban that is game related). According to Steams homepage they never undo a VAC-ban so I Thinks its pretty useless to try even though I am Confident that my son did not use any scripts or hacks. I am rather sure that the VAC-ban is because of him using the early dupe-glitches because I know he duped alot of gear in to the game and the VAC-ban seem to have appeared in relation to that update and character wipes that was made earlier. I am not sure that thats the correct reason of course but thats the only crime he commited. Whether I Think it's correct or not to set VAC-ban for kids that uses a game glitch is a completely other issue. I am going to send a mail to Steam support and explain my case for them and hope for the best but without any expectations. If nothing happens he will have to re-buy the game for his own money and hopefully a lesson is learned! Thank you all for clever and good replies to my thread, keep the good gaming spirit up ;)
