What to do now?

Recommended Posts

So after my first few deaths, I've finally managed to get geared up fairly well with a primary, sidearm and plenty of ammo and food.

And now I have no idea what to do.

What are some things to do now that I'm geared up? Right now I'm sitting right outside (i think) Cherno.

If you want to survive for as long as you can.  Explore the map.  Learn the geography.  There are quite a few beautiful views throughout Chernarus.

Help other people with no loot.

Hurt other people with no loot.

Hunt other people with loot.

Dance Parties.  Book readings.

Search the forums for groups.

I could go on but I'll let you think of some of your own.  I'm sure you've got an imagination.

A: Get the heck out of Cherno and off the coast.

B: Go explore.  (and find a map and a compass)

C: Learn the food/drink system. Get Energized, Hydrated, and Healthy.

D: If you're not too attached to your "stuff'  (and you shouldn't be), try interacting with other players.  That's the fun part, imo.

I put C over getting "gear" and D is the fun part of DayZ for me.

From the location you are sitting at sounds like your ready to start hunting....

Have fun!

Yeah. This is a sandbox game. Your imagination sets the limits.

I chose to explore. Check out all the nice scenery. It's pretty neat when you're strolling through the woods and suddenly - castle ruins that you can fall and break your legs on! Fortunately I had morphine and there were sticks on the roof to make a splint out of.

By the way, does anyone know if your legs heal completely from morphine or only temporary? Because I noticed that I can still "fix broken legs" with a splint after taking morphine. It would make sense if that was the case. Like, you're able to walk on a broken leg while on morphine, but when it wears off you'll still need that splint.

Explore!

The more you wander the more you'll start to recognize certain cities and such. It'll definitely help you in your future travels, having a better idea of the lay of the land.

I learned Chernarus better in Day Z than I ever did playing ArmA 2, and I've had ArmA 2 for quite a long while before Day Z.

So here (again) some suggestions what to do:

  1. Blow up a gas station
  2. Find the cave
  3. Find all heli crashsites
  4. Visit the shipwreck
  5. Visit Kumyrna ruins
  6. Visit green mountains

Don't visit the shipwreck. It's a bugged Death Trap still.

Not Bugged, its a ghost ship.. Don't go unless you want to become a ghost.

There is a reason I never go in that ship, look what it made my friend do.

Yes, I've read that.  That's why I don't set foot in it, I don't want to end up a ghost like everyone else.

ps. Rhodes, do you go by Captain Rhodes in game?

Yeah, I didn't think the chances were good when I saw Captain Rhodes that it was you.  GL out there.
