So will there be missions?

Recommended Posts

There are already community-created missions going on.  Players are making them up and posting about them in the forums.

Strange things can happen when people actually use the search function  :o

Apparently, this short series by Dolce & Battlefield 4 suggests that Dean put an Easter egg in DayZ. They discuss the possibility in one of the episodes--I forget which one. At first, I thought they'd just done a fine job of crafting a story for us.

Here's Episode 1 of 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBwkWclVU-8

problem with this is that it only proves my point. With nothing to do, DayZ will invariably de-evolve into a player vs. Player shooter. Not a damn thing about Zombies.

Where are the zombie swarms. Where is the purpose? Just hiding and shooting other players.

Make your own missions.

I've been thinking of some fun missions/games/events.

I've seen plenty of other peoples ideas and most are pretty good.

If you haven't tried this game it's actually a fun game with some valuable skill honing.

Hide-and-Seek.

Hide-and-Seek.

To avoid troll missions, there will have to be a mission vetting system in place.

I wouldn't want anything that involves talking to an NPC, however if there were 'events' that periodically happened I could see that working.

It might mean things like walkie-talkies could be used, if you had one you might pick up a random signal from a plane/helicopter crash site with a grid reference - you get there, everyone is dead (coz don't want npcs running around!) but the place is swarming with zeds. Kill them, get some loot for your troubles and be on your way.

Lets face it, walkies aren't actually gonna be used by anyone, everyone's on TS or Skype!

These type of 'events' don't need to be endgame stuff but would make a nice change of pace from the human events of 'hey, I'm here - come shoot me' or that other favourite 'hey, we're here - come shoot us'.

See?

Now this is forward thinking. Have my beans, god damn it.

I would like to stumble across a note that says something like "while running away from a swarm, I lost my dad's watch that he had past down from his great gran dad" This might prompt me to go hunting for that watch... or a note hinting to someone loosing their beautifully crafted Holland and Holland side-by-side heirloom shotgun

By picking the note up, the item is spawned when you are in close proximity to its general location. Your easter egg hunt begins...

I have some fun things planned once certain items become persistent in the world.
