Post your PC specs, in game settings and FPS here

Recommended Posts

I've seen some good cpu setups here and no is really complaining about their fps.  This is a good thing.  Are any of you unhappy with your current fps or do you feel they are where they should be due to the current state of the game?

Considering the fact that I can run (not play because it's awful) Battlefield 4 on ultra with 100 average FPS, and I get around 35 average on DayZ maxed, I am a little dissatisfied. Yes, they are different engines. Yes, RV is older than Frostbite 3. Still, optimization should be the focus of all engines. Battlefield 4 looks absolutely gorgeous. DayZ looks decent. Not bad, but not stunning. It is just average. It is what graphics should be. So why can I not run it better?

Don't use alpha bullshit here, the RV engine has been around for years; it should be optimized by now, especially on a fourth quarter 2013 PC.

EDIT: After playing ArmA 3 for a bit, I found that disabling Vsync and Anti-Aliasing yielded 50 FPS everywhere. The issue is the RV engine DayZ uses. Other games have great optimization, DayZ does not.

So do you feel that your fps is where it should be for the state that the game is in?  Also, what are your system specs?

Well I still run Arma 3 a fair bit more smoothly, but that's a finished product. IMO performance in DayZ is more than acceptable for this current stage in development, but performance similar to that of Arma 3 should be what the team are aiming for in the long run.

My specs are probably listed earlier in the topic...

CPU: i5 3570k @ 4.5Ghz

RAM: 8Gb Kingston HyperX @ 1600Mhz

GPU: EVGA GTX 780

Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-v Pro

And the game is running from an SSD.

Because they're completely different games and as such perform differently. Show me a 230km2 BF map.

i5 running at 3.6

Only 4gb ocz 7-7-7 memory :-(

HD 5870 card

SSD

Temperature never exceeds 50℃. Extra fans/cooling.

Native resolution: 1400x900

Rendering resolution: 200%

Vsync: on

Texture detail: high (doesn't seem to affect fps?)

Clouds: normal

Shadows: low

With sweetfx ontop.

Can't remember the others, replying on mobile.

Countryside fps: 60-100

Cities: 35ish

i7 930 - oc 4.25 ghz

gtx 570 evga

6gb trip chan ram. timed proper

x58 mobo (not the best ssd performance compared to new mobos)

crucial m4 ssd 120gb (win7/arma2/3/SA)

settings all high, excelt ambient occ.

only thing changed in config file is that "max frames ahead" or whatever its called.  Not scene complexity...( i head that lowers draw distance)

30 fps in worst areas

40 fps in cities

60 fps in bear country

Fps it seems is generally fine for those with a decent system, and some very basic tweaks.

As for expected after further optimization?

We should be hitting 40-60 fps with all settings on max with my system spec.

Not a lot to ask, not to much further to go.

Those with 3770 or 2600+ 4.5 ghz+ gtx 670+ should be getting 50fps-70 fps

remember how killer this game type is on fps. Its no shooter running source...

loot tables and zombie spawns = death to fps.

Are talking about ArmA 3 of BF4, because Very High is the top setting in my copy of the SA?

You get the idea of what I was implying. All of my settings are maxed.

Wow, that's exactly the same as my old setup. The 3570k is a wonderful chip. One of Intel's best. Great board too.

What is your monitors refresh rate, because it it's 60 Hz, then I call bullshit on your countryside fps.

Call bullshit all you want. People who know me, who have played with me know I'm a honest chap. I don't have reason to feed crap. I've said from the start, I'm unsure how I can get the FPS considering others with better systems get more. A post I made last week queried my sudden increase from (normally) 60.. to 100. With no reasonable explanation to be found.

I said I have no reason to feed crap... I also have no reason to feed people with "constructive" posts.

My specs are as followed: Asus Rock z75 Pro3 motherboard, i5 3570k 3.4ghz, Radeon 7850, 500gb HD and 1tb external, 620W Power and 8gb gskill SDRAM

In game settings

Video: Rendering Resolution @ 1024x768 / VSync Enabled / Resolution

User Interface: Resolution @ 1024x768

Textures: Video Memory - Auto / Texture Detail - Very High / Texture Filtering - Very High

Quality: Objects - Very High / Terrain - Very High / Clouds - High / Shadows - VeryHigh

Rendering: AA - High / Alpha to Coverage - All Trees + Grass / Edge Smoothing - FXAA High / HDR Quality - Low / Ambient Occlusion - Enabled / PP - Normal

I usually get about 50-60FPS and cities about 40...I could easily probably turn down or tweak some settings to get better but I'm alright with it most of the time. Consider my specs to be average nothing great.

He's just asking about your monitor, is it a 120Hz?

There's just no way he can have more than 60 frames if his monitor is 60Hz with Vsync on.

This is true, I don't want this to turn into a pissing match tho.  I created this thread so we as a community could help others who may have been having fps issues and so far no one has complained yet.  Which is a very good thing.

Granted, he's "just asking". But they're politer ways of asking instead of "I call bullshit", implying I'm a liar. See my point?

Yes, I have a 100hz monitor.

Refresh rates on monitors do not affect FPS. But it does affect (max it out) if Vsync is on.

This is the thing with forums, most people are bloody keyboard warriors and so quick to jump onto people's back's about things.

:edit: I'll update my fps later, I've switched back to 2 x monitors since they match. Slight OCD I think. MY son now has a shiny new one :-/ Not been on dayz since, but I imagine now - FP Swill max out at 75, since that's the rate on said monitor.

Exactly.  I drop down to 30 fps in the game now with fairly good settings.  I still find the game play smooth and am able to defend myself with out having to worry about video lag.  As I had stated earlier in the thread and also a moderator said the same thing, the fps the most of us are getting is reasonable for the sate that the game is in on the settings that we play.  I can go full tilt on all settings and still run at about 20-25 fps in the cities but i can see the choppiness and I don't like it.

Ahh okay. For the record though, a high end monitor can affect FPS. I noticed an increase when I switched from http://www.amazon.com/HP-2211x-21-5-Inch-LED-Monitor/dp/B004G8QO84 to https://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/VG248QE/

30 is definitely playable, but I find that 40 FPS is the point where the game will start to feel really smooth.

AMD FX 4200 3.6Ghz (clocked to 4.2), radeon hd 7730 2gb, 8Gb RAM.

Resolution is at 1080, 60hz.

Play on medium settings with all effects turned off. Get 20ish fps in cherno, mid 20s in say elektro and anything from 35 up away from populated areas.

Before clocking the cpu I'd get maybe 6-10 fps less than these. When people say its mostly cpu that runs Dayz they really ain't joking, mines not really that good but it does alright clocked. New cpu coming end of the month to try and tackle this though as I do crash every so often.

your 7730 is a bit on the weak side so it may be hard to get better frames without lowering settings more
