Gameplay issues.

Recommended Posts

Ive got about 40 hours of game. Ive been dead 3 or 4 times, once i was kos, other times i died against the environment (broken legs, damn rotten fruit, and so on).

Ive never engaged another player to actually kill him, ive always ran till now, but now that im geared i will.

Anyway, i feel like i will have a dishonorable death while struggling against low fps, lag issues, get stuck between a door and a staircase. Ah, and my noobishness of course.

I've lowered any graphic setting till i had an acceptable ui response, i only play servers where ping rate is below 50.

Am i the only one out there feeling not to have enough grip and control over my character because of the above mentioned?

Well my PC was too old for this game, now it`s dead. BUT I`ve managed to get rid of the lags in towns like Cherno and Elektro. Disable shadows, clouds, all texture filtering options. Set everything on very low BUT keep your object details on normal (this is crucial for sniping) I guess you already changed the settings in your config.

If you think your skill is way too low - train it on zombies and very small objects. Just like in aim maps in CS 1.6 back then. Getting stucked is not your personal problem, everybody has it so... I think you just have to believe a little bit more in yourself :)

Well i don't think my skill is slow, i Know it is, ive shot a single bullet against a wall, just to get some understanding of aiming/shooting mechanics. But this is just a part of it, i feel very uncomfortable with character commands, everything's responding late/bad/weird.

If it's not just me then it's ok, i'm just trying to understand if ive misconfigured something or if my GPU is not that good anymore.

No it's about anyone.

Controlling your DayZ avatar is like steering a tank through a porcelain shop.

Gotta get the hang of it to not destroy everything ^^

Uhm just tried the suggestion in that pinned topic (general forum i believe) to get a better fps, it seems slightly improved things.

Then, i saw i probably lowered too much mouse sensitivity and set it up little higher. Let's see what happen next.

Vsync off and max prerendered frames to 1 helps a bit with responsiveness. Still get stuck on everything though (banisters in particular). There seems to be a slight delay between letting go of W and actually stopping. Also things like drawing weaping, vaulting, even changing stance, has server related delay to it (aswell as some other quirks), which results in some real "WTF" moments.

Simply speaking, it locks the framerate to your monitor refresh rate.

That is, if your monitor refreshes 60 times a second (60 Hz) it locks the framerate to a maximum of 60 frames per second.

It´s always "good" to know, that the game is not optimized at all and you will be experiencing fps drops due to servers and the game itself, while your PC can be "ok" for the game.

e6600 duo core

4gb drr2 800

geforce 550ti 1gb (I know my CPU slows down the graphic card)

That´s the machine I was playing DayZ on, untill it died. With this crappy thing I´ve managed to reduce the lags in Cherno/Elektro to playable. I had my 15-20 fps there. On some servers thou.. it was lagging like hell and that was the servers problem. Save money for a new PC and wait for updates with optimizations.
