No, it wasnt a hardcore server. He joined and everything was fine.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to get killed.

 

I stalked a guy for a while until he decided to log out in a bush. I then popped him in the head and looted him.

 

He probably thought he had glitched into a new spawn.

This, it is extremely important that you don't do a thing when this happens to you, log out immediately. Getting hit or anything will save your new spawn.

It might be solved by simply quickly logging out and back in (and wait 280 £%"£% seconds).. However there is also a chance that you got shot in the old server in the 30 seconds you remain on that server after logging out (because it prevents combat logging). In this case there you've lost everything and obviously you have to start again.

yeah, true dat, it happened to me after getting a session lost on a 2/40 player server tho.. in retrospect, i would have wanted something like a kill cam, or at least log in with the message "you have died" rather then being a fresh spawn.. simply to stop confusion.
