Ruined clothing offering less 'protection'?

Hi, I was in a firefight not too long ago and now all my clothes are Ruined, does this mean my clothes are useless in terms of offering some sort of protection/armor? Or is this purely cosmetic from just getting shot? If I had a choice, I'd rather keep these clothes as battle scars but if that means running around sub-optimal, I guess I'll have to find new ones.

Depends on the clothing.  But yes even a simple shirt offers some protection.  IF someone shoots you it probably won't do anything but it can help a small bit.

 

A helmet protects you.  I got shot in the head while wearing a ballistic helmet and lived to tell the tale.  Also I believe the press vest has some bulletproofness to to it.

ya they were tactical shirt, cargo pants, assault vest, all ruined, so i guess i gotta look for replacements now!

 

is it listed ANYWHERE about the protection value of each piece of clothing?

Yes. But it doesn't make much difference, you can imagine just how much a shirt protects you against bullets, i.e. not much. And you can find a sewing kit and fix your clothes up to "worn" again as long as they're not completely ruined. In that case, find new ones.

twice my trousers went from badly to ruined and broke my lags and all the stuff in them! And here about the helmet
