crazykage 1063 Posted February 25, 2014 It amazes me how many people are panicking and freaking out! I honestly think its all just the people that came into this thinking it was a fully functioning, playable game. I, and many others, bought into the game with the understanding that we were alpha testing the game, and in EXCHANGE, we get to own the complete version on release, and have paid half price for it. In addition to enjoying what the game has to offer during the development process. But so many people cam into this thinking it was a fully functioning, playable game. They think they got "ripped off", or are upset because a bug killed them and they lost all their gear. How many RAGERS have come on this forum for NO other reason than to bitch and moan because their characters got reset, or the fell down a ladder, or whatever. I get killed by that shit more often than I am killed by players BY FAR. Has bothered me not one bit. People need to stop treating this like its an actual game, and start treating it like something that will BECOME a game. Why do you think so many people bitch about getting killed in game? Because they are trying to PLAY it. And so are the killers. Im all for having some fun, but buying into this project was supposed to imply that you are doing so with the full knowledge and understanding that we are alpha testers, and what little there is to enjoy in the game currently will become boring very quickly. Its not like any of you bought this game, being SPECIFICALLY told it was a finished product, only to find out it was shit, like Day One Garry's incident, aliens colonial marines, X-Rebirth, or battlefield 4 (which even NOW still has issues). Now THERE are some games where the companies that made them took our money and fucking ran. You want to talk about a game that was TRULY a fuking scam, look no further than garry's incident. Excepting BF4, which at least is still being worked on, but still never should have been released in the state it was in. If you had been mislead into thinking this game was even fully PLAYABLE, then you would have room to bitch about bugs, missing features, or the fact that the lead developer is planning to leave the project. Seriously, people, get over yourselves. Dean hall wants to return to his FAMILY. Can you not grasp THAT, if nothing else? He wont be leaving until its in beta anyways, and by then his "vision" will already be implemented, and the rest of the work will not require his creative input. NOTHING whatsoever has changed. The game is still in alpha, many features are still missing, we still have game breaking bugs and issues, the project still has a lot of work left to be put into it, and we are all still alpha testers. The project continues to move forward, the pace of development hasn't changed, and all you whiny asshats are accomplishing is to make yourselves out to look like spoiled children. So stop your bellyaching, and get back to "playing" the game so that you can find issues, bugs, think of ideas or concepts to suggest, etc. so that the final product will be that much better when its done. Good fucking god.

Esolu 320 Posted February 25, 2014 People can relate to Dean. People love Dean. Without him, there will be a certain disconnect. And the game we all love becomes a product run by a company, no longer allowing us to relate on that excited-kid level that we can with Dean.I see a down to earth guy who just wants to go home. He is a Hobbit, very far from shire, and he just wants to deliver this damn ring so he can bring home the bacon and live out his days farming potatoes in his new game studio. DayZ will always be his baby. But as with most babies, they have to grow up and do thing on their own. Any parent should be able to understand this. Do you get my drift?I'm speaking in metaphors, making more assumptions from my observations, because I'm a writer. I hope this can help people comprehend.Furthermore, I remember him saying this a few times. But I was one of the people just absolutely stuck on every social media outlet looking for a bit of news. If you weren't, and this is big news to you, I'm sorry that it was such a shock, but it was known.Just my two cents.

That's why they are concerned about Dean either leaving or continues to stay but just isn't motivated about working with DayZ/Bohemia anymore (most likely scenario). They fear it won't become anything in the future. If people want to pay for an alpha then they'd better like how it is now because there is no guarantee that there will ever be a final version. Otherwise don't buy it and if it doesn't come as what you hoped for, you didn't lose anything. Edited February 25, 2014 by Benjamin

loud3803 2 Posted February 25, 2014 I can kind of see dean's point. he had an idea, not quite a complete idea, but instead of waiting around and letting it die he started the mod. Then he was probably approached by BI and offered money for his idea and lead spot on the dev team. Not being stupid, took the offer, saw the project wasn't going exactly the way he wanted, decided to reliquish control to finalize his idea on his own, but still having input into the original project (and consiquently probably still getting paid).I believe this game will turn out fine, it seems to have a solid direction and a good dev team working on it. I kind of look forward to seeing what Dean comes up with next, and i'll still support this project as well, cause it's fun to kill pixles sometimes.
