with dean out of the picture now, can u guys release next patch

Recommended Posts

1.8.1 has been ready since oct ffs. "Waiting for deans approval" is absurd. He has abandon the mod months ago and now abandoning the SA.

Please release the patch. I guarantee it will bring a lot of ppl back to mod.

For next patch it would be great if u could work on performance issues like animations and server lag when there's 35+ ppl on.

You guys have no one to report to now, so let's evolve this mod to its max potential!

about the server lag:

I get 15-20ms ping on 3480 but there's a very noticeable time delay on any action. Trying to loot something is a 1-2sec delay when clicking arrow. I think the lag is from so many zombies spawning . 3480 usually has 35-50 ppl on it and majority of em are in a city so there's probably 1500+ zombies spawned on the server.

I won't talk about the patch but...Dean is not leaving the SA. Inform yourself better, follow the official "news".

Abandoned the project?

Which is why he's planing on being lead til the end of the year (10 more months) but will stay around after that for when he's needed. Also if what I've read has been interpreted properly then he isn't leaving the project all together and may well be taking on another role within the team.

What are you, 12? Get a grip on yourself.

The OP just wants to know why the mod has not seen a patch that was supposedly being worked on 5 months ago.

No, he's not entirely accurate in what he's saying, but he's saying that the mod feels ignored in deference to the standalone which is now (from HIS perspective), being 'abandoned' by it's original creator.

I disagree with the sentiments about Dean Hall and the standalone but completely agree about the mod 1.8.1 patch.

Fish or cut bait. If the mod is not going forward further, then someone in charge of it needs to stand up and say so.

I prefer to play the mod because it has more to do. I play the standalone only sporadically to see how it's coming along when it's patched up.

Is the mod dead from a development standpoint? It would be interesting to know.

Are you guys reading the same news I am??

Article I read stated dean is looking to start his own company in NZ. He will still have some role in dayz but not a lot.

The undertone I got from the news was he is moving on and looking to start his next game.

The $ he got from dayz gave him the funding to do what he wants. Which apparently is to NOT work on dayz...

You guys really think he's gonna focus on dayz while starting up his own company?? And I'm the naive one?

And this isn't really about dean, its about the mod and its future. The devs claim they can't release patch until its approved. Well, approved from WHO? Dean? He's jumped ship. And once SA was released, his authority over the mod should hve been relinquished.

As I said in the OP, let's start evolving this mod to its max potential.

Or have the devs all jumped ship too now?

Id rather not have to switch to private servers that actually evolve their mods

There's no clam about it its public info all patch's must be submitted and accepted by Dean. We asked at xmas the answer was no. There is no reason for anyone to lie about it. The mod has a hole load of license issues we can not just release.

Pretty much everyone has moved onto other projects from the dev team. Once we get word we can do a release you will know the same day. 1.8.1 is planed to be the last version.

Until that day its under development.

Hey r4z0r, glad to see you're still around. If I may, I want to ask you a couple of questions.

You say there was a "no" from Dean Hall in December, apparently because there were some licence issues with 1.8.1. Then you proceed to say that everyone from the dev team has moved on to other projects. You also say that when this "no" turns into a "yes" then 1.8.1 will be released. Lastly you say that 1.81 will be the last version. So my questions are the following:

1) Are we expecting Dean Hall (or someone else in the hierachy chain) to just change his mind about those licence issues, or are there people actively working on fixing those issues?

2) If eveyone left the mod dev team, then it's just you left behind to carry the burden of the mod development (and the communication issues with the SA team) all by yourself?

3) Isn't the timing a bit suspicious? I mean, the mod has been sitting still (as far as we know) since October, and now four and a half months later it's still sitting still. In those months SA got released and is being almost daily updated. I can't help to think that someone just wanted to "hold back" the mod so more people would jump on the SA train. I'm just asking for your personal opinion on this.

4) When you say last version you really mean that after that the mod dies? If I recall correctly, Dean Hall used to say that SA won't affect the mod progression, and it will still continue to progress on it's own, being "community driven". And now a couple of months after SA release we are being told that after 1.8.1 (which is ready since December, prior to SA release that is) it dies? Also expecting a personal opinion on this.

Don't have any intention to sound grumpy or something, I know you guys are working on your spare time and really appreciate this, I just want to clear some things so we know where the mod stands and what it's future -if there is one- may be. Thanks in advance.

Yes it would be nice to know these things since there are people like myself who got the SA and wanted more so went to the mod. And now I see stuff like this and say wow did I just spend $25 on Arma 2 for the mod and its gonna die?

1: the issue was SA being released at the time nothing more.

2: That has always been down to me nothing new.

3: I don't work on anything to do with SA. I am not part of the SA dev team never have been never will be.

4: Its the last from us. ? this however is a question mark with recent info coming to light about Dean. DayZ is more then just here the mods of dayz will keep going for along time to come.

All 4 questions have been answered already in other topics. as an example here is another post http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/148120-dayz-18-feedback/page-9?p=1793616#entry1793616

The mod will never die there will always be mods of the mod they have always had much more freedom.

I think that I had already reached the conclusion that 1.8.0.3 would be the final patch for the mod given the extended amount of time since it's release...

I agree that the mod will always be around. This thread kinda sorta confirms what I thought all along. With the SA around, the mod is now in it's final form, at least officially.
