Rocket, We love you.

Recommended Posts

I meant: Is it clear to you what his "ultimate gaming experience" is gonna be or what he is planning on doing after leaving a very, very, very promising work of art here!

I am with you. If I get Dean right - IF - then I respect his desicion to leave the project: He doesn't see potential in "his" own game anymore. And there we have the "unfair part": He does not believe in himself, he is indirectly telling people that they invested in a project that never had future AND on top of that he is more than mean to his colleagues...

hehe yes exactly this. His colleagues will function better without him

Come on, the dude created the game, but what the fuck does that even mean? One thing I know is they have a TEAM, and Dean isn't the only one making the decisions. Hell, he has a hard enough time playing the actual game. First we still have the guy for 10 more months.. As long as this is "his" game, he won't let it get totally fucked, or no one would be willing to play his future work. I figure the 10 month mark is a BETA release estimate. Just about all the work SHOULD be done, so I'm not worried.

Also, I feel that the whole "created by Dean Hall" thing is out of respect. I don't see anything strange about it

that's the problem, he is claiming ownership at the same time on his twitter feed, disowns the game. What is truly concerning is his ill-advised, poorly-timed, horribly-worded statements that have effectively damaged the product and customer confidence. This isn't our fault, he misspoke at best or is a tool at worst. Either case, like I said, good riddance. Like you said, he has trouble even playing the game.

And where do you get that this is a beta release estimate? There is no evaluation in Deans utterance... he is just saying he'll be leaving the project by the end of the year - probably because his contract won't let him out earlier... Everything's a rumour - even what I wrote.

I think, with all these people crying that you'll be gone in 10 months, which is a long time, and defiantly enough time when you think about it, almost a year, and that people are still hurt to hear that, shows that, well,

The DayZ community loves you Rocket.

He's ready to put Dayz Behind and start a new studio/game, he's basically gone alredy

Also, he has no business talking about creating ANOTHER GAME when this one is in alpha, ESPECIALLY right after saying THIS GAME is not ever going to be the ultimate multiplayer experience.

This is black and white folks, even if he is still invested.

it is tacky and a trademark of self-importance.

Even if he was in no way involved in putting that there, no one of decent character would ALLOW their name alone to be put there like that. Can you really argue with that?

me and my friend are devs of our own game we created, and we always talk about future plans after this one, maybe he was just speculating his future plans? maybe he thinks in 10 months the game would be finished by then, at least low-to-mid-beta id say.

Again: No way it is going to be FINISHED after 10 months. You as a dev have to have the insight on that?!

Are you guys really discussing if some dude is loved by everyone or not?

Some people like him as a "tool",

Some people like him as a person,

Some people don't like him at all.

Done! Now go play the game and have fun.

Actually we drifted apart from the "is he loved" argument if you read our discussion ;)

You should not 'speculate' about your future plans publicly, especially when that directly conflicts with your current responsibilities. This was a terrible business decision and I am sure BI is probably pissed with this fallout. It wont mean much, but it definitely leaves a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths and makes people, ironically, distrust his future projects. I just feel bad for BI and everyone who is on the fence as to whether or not to support this game, because I promise you, this does not help, which could directly impact sales. That is a dick move on deans part and I find it funny people are defending him, even after this.

But not everyone is looking at the business side of this I guess

im not a dev of dayz, im a dev of video games in general, if me and my friend had 10 months, a bunch of books on coding beforehand, an idea to work on, and time stamps to complete stuff on, manager, and basically all the time between day 1 and the last day, we'd have something really great at the end f the road.

WOW THERE IS A LOT OF TROLLS HERE.

You say rocket is self centered and acts like a douche...here is a ideal.  BACK IT UP.  You are saying a lot of shizz but not showing any proof.  Also, Dean Hall made dayz.  Yes he has a lot of people helping him now but in the early days of dayz it was rocket and his ideal.

First I didn't say you were a dev of DayZ. You really need to learn to read my statements.

Second if you had 10 month and an idea and actually had shown people over the first year your game was out there in alpha that you worked on it more than for two month then, yes, people would believe you. Since this isn't the case I think your assumptions are based on something like a good will to the project.

So anyone that doesn't agree with you and doesn't display a full catalog of their views is a troll?

Just look at his twitter feed, watch videos where he is included/speaks about development/shows him playing. Seriously, it is shockingly obvious, but the plain and simple fact that "Created by Dean Hall" is on the main screen is proof positive enough. I know to some of you that may seem like grasping at straws, but any truly humble/respectable person that has the benefit of the project in mind would NEVER allow that.

if he quit his future would be destroyed, maybe hed have to flee to some other country just to be safe from people trying to sue/ arrest him for his tricks, but your right I am basing it on good will.

Thank you - I don't judge you for that, this is your rightful opinion and I respect that.

His future is basically what we are arguing about. His act right there might have destroyed his future for many players, hasn't it?

Just posted on Twitter, rocket2guns:

"Newsflash: Man wants to do something else once he is finished what he is doing now, more at 10! :P"

NEWSFLASH, You don't talk about leaving, future projects, and SIMULTANEOUSLY say your current project is "not the ultimate multiplayer experience" when it isn't even OUT OF ALPHA!!

Jesus christ, this guy is such an ass

Yes, I don't get either what's "finished" about this project. Kind of a quitter...
