Diavolos 3 Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) I had a search and couldn't find anyone mentioning this so here's my suggestion. How about DayZ uses a clever idea used in EVE Online: The Safe Log option. If you use the safe log off button, you see a 30 second timer onscreen counting down. You stay in game and are able to move, but not use anything. At any point during the countdown, if there is any interaction with your character by anyone (being shot at, you use items etc.) the timer is cancelled and must be started again.Once the timer runs out, your character disappears and is safe. Of course, you can just straight log out and your character sits there for the 30 seconds and possibly gets shot, axed or pants stolen, but the option is there anyway. I like this because it stops combat loggers and forces you to deal with your situation even if things aren't going your way. This would be great for a game like this because it is higher risk, it can take a very long time to build up your resources and weapons so knowing your gear is safe once you log off is important. djporternz 644 Posted February 24, 2014 Discussed before... once or several million times. Sorry, i've lost count. As explained in numerous threads, if you had cared to research the issue, the Devs specifically discounted this method as it was easily exploitable in DayZ. Go back to the search dialog and use terms like 'combat log', or even just 'timer'. Should be a few threads pop up. Note, however, all threads on these forums eventually turn into a KoS/Anti-KoS or Combat Logging Pro/Con diatribe if they remain visible on the first page long enough.... YMMV.
Diavolos 3 Posted February 24, 2014 I did search and yes I got a ton of haters talking about KoSers and desync stuff.I didn't find any suggestions quite like this one so I thought I'd put it up. How would you exploit this method in such a bad way? It forces you to fight if things go bad for you and protects you from being being killed while not in game. Also, hello fellow NZer :)
