Issues with sound direction

Recommended Posts

I've played the mod for well over a year now and standalone since its release. One of my major gripes with the current state of SA is that it appears to me the direction in which sound is coming from (most specifically gunshots) does not seem to be accurate. I have MAJOR problems locating players who are shooting at me even if they are within 20-50m away. I have never experienced this in the mod, and often have relied open being shot at FIRST so I can locate the culprit. Does anybody else find this an issue or have a technical explanation for why this happens?

Yes, my headphones are on the correct way.

It's been discussed before. Yes directional sound is kinda broken. I've been in houses hearing gunshots that sound like somebody is shooting just in front of the house - yet they were a good 100 meters away. Or I hear gunshots facing one way, my buddy facing the opposite direction doesn't hear squat. So yeah the problem is in the sound engine.
