[Forum] Raise the avatar filesize.

Recommended Posts

Currently the only available filesize is 10kb, making it near impossible to upload an avatar unless it's a .jpg filetype.

At the least raise it to 50 or 100kb.

Most forums got the 10kb one, that avatar size, being png/jpg doesn't matter. It's the same quality. The size is too small to see any quality difference.

Yes perhaps, but sometimes even some .jpg won't work. Some days ago it was just fine and didn't need 10kb.

You have an avatar. Why are you even complaining?

If anything limit the signature size. Some people go way overboard with them.

Or put a scroll-bar onto the signatures if they go too big, so they can keep their overly large signatures. Also some avatars do not go above 10kb, just because I have an avatar doesn't mean everyone else 'might' be able to.

Asking never hurt, did it?

Asking never hurts.

But it's a very unnecessary change that could put more stress on an already overloaded website

A lot of forums has a built in image "re-size script". Even if your avatar is below the allowed kb limit, it's likely that it will be re-sized any way.

Try saving your images as a ".gif" file. It won't really change the image quality since as mentioned above, the current avatar/image size is too small for the human eye to even notice any difference in quality.

I've attempted to upload an image and it stated it was 'too large' I didn't try .gif, I'll try that.
