Car loot disappeared after downtime

Did anyone else come back to empty cars? They were full of tons of stuff (two cars worth) and now they're empty. I have a hard time believing someone took all the the stuff (12 jerry cans, 4 weapons and a lot of food/meds/ammo) and then left the cars. Is there a way to reset them to get the stuff back? Kinda sucks. Guess it is alpha.
