ASUS Sonic Radar and BattlEye

Recommended Posts

This thread is not to discuss whether or not ASUS Sonic Radar is or is not a cheat.

They say it enhances the information already present and is a great alternative for deaf gamers.

I'm not a deaf gamer, and I note it would give me a serious advantage in certain situations.

Despite not actually running this program while playing multiplayer games, my issue is that this program appears to bundled in deeply with my ASUS motherboard software. Now, BattlEye's website notes that no bans will be issued for overlays, however, I'm concerned BE might end up having an issue with the core software involved.

So, I can't be the only person to be running an ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO, anyone know if they're gunna banhammer me?

Unless they have a heuristic for it as a known cheat, you're solid. Um, what does it do exactly?

This may help with that question.

I don't think it would be classed as a cheat as it has a very useful function WRT hearing impaired gamers. Unfortunately, it is flagged as a hack by punkbuster but I don't know about BattlEye.

UPDATE: Just looked at the BE site and note the addition of this on there support page:

  • Direct3D Hook #X: Disable overlay programs or the overlay feature of these programs while playing on BE-enabled servers. Popular examples are Xfire (you can leave it running by disabling the ingame-overlay feature for your game in the options), Fraps, TeamSpeak Overlay (TSO) and ATI Tray Tools.

Sorry, it looks like any less-abled gamers get screwed over again. It's a sad indictment of the industry, right there!

I have had no issues with battleye doing anything about running standard overlay programs specifically overwolf and razer game booster fps overlay at the same time. I didn't find that myself on the battleye page, but I was looking on mobile installing this awful OS again. Could you link me?

Apparently it gives you a visual representation of the direction of sounds. I haven't used it so I don't exactly know, I"m just gunna be really pissed since my girlfriend is about to get this game to play it with me and i don't want to get global banned cause of my new mobos software.
