KevGraf94 0 Posted June 24, 2012 So my first few games was like this:Its Night. I walk like 10 mins. I find a city. There are many zombies. There is almost nothing in this city. Because its dark i cannot see every zombie. One Zombie see me. I dont have a Weapon. I am dead.Wow... Is this normal?

Blackout1050 0 Posted June 24, 2012 New players won't know whether or not the game is supposed to be night all the time - don't expect them to, they are new.Surviving in this game is difficult, you will die many times. Best chance to survive more than half an hour is to find out where you are (http://dayzdb.com/map) (Game tells you where you spawn in lower right corner) and move inland as fast as possible. Search barns for weapons (Preferabbly an axe) and avoid zombies by going prone and crawling around. Head towards a village that has a supermarket, once you get to the supermarket you'll get decent gear (If its already been looted/has useless loot - server hop) and should head to a military base or search for medical supplies. After that do whatever you want. Search the forums for guides, its easy to survive once you know how to. And it should get easier from here, zombies at the moment have super senses (Unless you crawl around for an hour to get 1km somewhere).
jayzz911 0 Posted June 24, 2012 Yeah but almost EVERY server is on night :<Nope, the day/night cycle is based on real time. If it's dark where the server is then it's dark in the game and vice versa. If you want to play in the day in game whilst it's actually night where you live, you need to go to a server that is in a timezone where it's day.
wayfindre@hotmail.com 4 Posted June 24, 2012 Ya, I'm new here too, but after 5 days of playing I've picked up a lot. The sim has a STEEP learning curve. I would recommend EXPECTING to die just learning zombie behavior and view/hearing distances. This should teach you at what ranges you can run, crouchwalk and low crawl around the Zeds. Don't even expect to get loot until you know how Zed operates. Once you know Zed, you can reliably sneak around a village/city and expect to find loot. ALL buildings with loot look the same. Figure out which ones they are and don't even move in an area that DOESNT have those types of structures. Here's a tip, at the moment, Zeds cant see thru walls, BUT they can hear thru them pretty well until the game gets an update to fix this. If you know a Zed is on the other side of a wall DO NOT get right next to it unless you are doing a slow crawl with NO sounds. Also, the coasts can be a little chaotic, BUT if you can familiarize yourself with an area you can start making rounds to practice loot gathering. Until some stupid survivor runs by you with a horde on his ass. Good luck! The Day/Night cycle revolves around the physical location of the Server, although some servers offset theirs for personal preference. Just server hop until you find one during the day to start. majike 0 Posted June 24, 2012 He tells you to watch the lower right hand corner of the screen as you log in...It tells you your location briefly (in a teletype style)...and that is the only Hint you get, so don't miss it. It will just tell you what the nearest location (town) is to your current location, then it is up to you to figure it out from there. It doesn't take too long to start learning the map as you explore to the point that you don't need the hint anymore, you just know.
