Foldable backpacks?

Recommended Posts

Backpacks like the taloon backpack and the mountain backpack look like specialist lightweight backpacks - these are very lightweight and foldable. It would be very easy to fold these up and store several in another backpack.

This would be useful in Dayz as it'd be nice to be able to find a backpack for my friend, and give it to him - introducing more teamwork and encouraging caring for other survivors!

Of course a folded backpack would not be able to store items, so they should only be folded when empty.

Thoughts? :)

Good idea. As long as it was only certain backpacks and it could be balanced correctly. 8-}

Yeah sure.Empty backpacks ban be folded,taking minimum space requirement.

4 squares should be apropriate for the taloon?

A mountain backpack has a rigid spine rest all along it height. It is not made to be folded. You may though reduce its size given it is empty. A IRL 85 litres backpack can be reduced to a 60 litre. Still it won't fit a smaller backpack due to the lengthy spine rests.

A taloon can be folded to a third of its size given only the rigid bottom. Same with the hunter backpack.

Still i'd like to see the mechanics added. Won't affect me directly, as I carry the tools to craft one backpack if needed, and that's only 5 spaces.

Thought of this myself before. And hell ya! Backpacks should be crunchable to store em inside another pack!

I would say like maybe 1/4 of their own storage when folded.

I am against this idea, I see no reason to add this when you can already carry around a pack for someone else that makes more sense; see below.

When helping buddies just do what I do, carry around a stick, burlap sack and a rope. It takes up five spaces and you can make a backpack on the fly for someone. It is smaller than the generic packs but looks the best and is still more than enough space as long as you don't hoard unnecessary crap.

Sure it can already be done - but variety is the spice of life. :)
