DayZ Player Types: What do you bring to the community?

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow Survivors,

Any of us who play DayZ have come to realize that there are 4 different types of players in DayZ and they all bring a little something special to the community.  Here is my take on the player types of DayZ.

Survivors

This type of player is also known as a fresh spawn.  They have limited gear and supplies, if any at all, and are susceptible to death by zombie.  The range of experience in a Survivor can be anything from a geared player who just died in some awful or ridiculous way to a noob just hitting Chenarus for the first time.  This player brings a lot to the DayZ community in that they give use to the following 3 player types.

Heroes

This player is here to support the DayZ community in any way possible.  Whether it be helping fresh spawns by providing information and supplies or taking down bandits who have recently murdered a Survivor.  They are organized and knowledgeable and have great tactical skills.  This player is willing to put his life on the line just to make contact by shouting "friendly" and hoping the player he is making contact with isn't going to turn around and kill him.  The game wouldn't be the same without these fellow protectors.

Bandits

This player has some balls.  Although the community does not enjoy when someone comes up to them and holds them hostage, DayZ would not be the same game without these guys.  They provide the community with fear and that helps players stay on their toes and be very careful in deciding what moves they make while traveling through the game.  Bandits do not KoS... like I said they have the balls to make firm contact with other players, tell you to put your hands up and take you for all  you're worth.  It is only after they steal your gear or scare the piss out of you that they then decide whether you live or die.

Baddies

This player brings absolutely nothing to the DayZ community.  They themselves are so scared to come into contact with other players, that they just waste players on sight, no questions asked.  Now some of these Baddies will claim to be Bandits, but they are not.  Bandits actually take some skill to play, while Baddies take the easy route.  This player does not like to spend time enjoying what DayZ is all about.  They rely on kills to fill their inventory with gear and most likely end up getting what they deserve when their bullets miss and they wind up bleeding out on the ground.  If this player isn't out making first contact via KoS, upon being contacted by Bandits or Heroes, this player usually logs out in fear of what might happen to their character.  In the eyes of the DayZ community, this player should be enjoying Call of Duty, BF, GTA or some other type of KoS game.

So my friends I ask you, what type of player are you and what do you bring to the DayZ community?

I'm a Hero in many ways, but I will say subjective list is subjective.

Pretty black and white list - no one falls into one single category except those who are completely new to the game. I bring creative banditry to the game in forms of russian roulette bloodbags, inane ramblings over vicinity chat during a hold up, rewards to those who cooperate with my strip search and lunatic behaviors such as freaking out during a hold up and emptying a 762 internal mag at the "ghosts" my schizophrenic character sees.

If you ever kill me or find my body be sure to read the notes I leave in protector cases, they will give you a glimpse into my character's mind.

You forgot possibly the people of the DayZ community who give the most, the unspoken heroes of DayZ... The medic!

DayZ medics know every bit of medical information, and it is not in their best interest to kill. The medic's contribution has gone so far, there is an entire subreddit devoted to emergency medical situations. (http://www.reddit.com/r/redditrescueforce) The brave medics of the DayZ community will go out of their way to drop everything and assist. Medics do not engage unless engaged, but are lethal and organized. Medics are shot, stabbed, poisoned, deffibed, ffibbed, overdosed, broken legs, and many many other various injuries all in the name of science. Medics try their hardest. Medics never give up. Medics do no harm.

We like to think of ourselves as heros

we are a group of 7

2 snipers

1 spotter

4 assault

we camp for bambies. handcuff them. put bags on their heads. then put food and water in their inventory, ye ol catch and release system. some times when cherno or elektro has a lot of heat we run bambies through and keep em safe so they can loot without getting mugged. and sometimes camp airfields to break up fights (first to shoot dies). but we are not shy to waste someone.

My class would be none of the above.

Your forgetting the adventurers, stealth players and those with moral guidelines (They do exist)

There are only survivors. The rest is just a by product.

You can run away and survive, stay away and survive, or kill and survive.

And remember, smooch talk can be used as a trick as well, and is quite funny as well.

I'm as Bambi as they come, even with a M4. I would like to think I might make it as a hero one day, but I guess you got a version of a survivor here: Avoid players unless the other guy is unarmed. When captured or held up by bandits, I'll never log. That much honor and lifeblood is necessary in this game. And hey, if they do decide to kidnap you, it's a great chance to make some friends. I die frequently and I have yet to kill another player.

I would say i play hero/survivor sort of thing, i like player interaction but not if the only thing i hear from the other player is there rifle and the only thing i see is the 'you are dead' screen. so i keep to myself unless on a medic run or playing with other TMW members/ friends. i scavenge for all the stuff, and usually have 2 weapons so i can give the spare away with ammo to someone who has had an unfortunate death or just cant find a rifle. i give away supplies and try to heal all i can who enter the TMW teamspeak

I just survive. I don't attack first but, If I felt the situation called for it, I would. I'm willing to help players out but do tend to shy away from much contact or long contacts. I don't travel with people I don't know. I do head to elektro if I'm bored to see if i can help out or kill any baddies :)

Well I feel you get more out of the game by not KOSING! Think about it, If you go around shooting everyone, that gets lame fast. But if you hold them up, take their stuff, and then release them, that's fun to me. And in my opinion, playing the game correctly. Don't get me wrong, there are great players who choose the bandit lifestyle. And we need them to make the game more interesting. It's the nubies that run around frightened, trigger happy, quivering to every sound and shadow. These guys need to relaxe, stay calm and most importantly, stay off the main roads LOL!

Besides, I feel that their are three stages of player. One being the total Bambie KOSER. Two Being the total Babmie sniper, KOSER-both of which are pretty lame. Three being the more experienced player. These are the players who have master the game. The really good players. The ones who hold you up. The ones who release you unharmed.

I dont think those are all accurate representations i think the last 2 kind of are the same thing, as bad guys do one of 2 things, its either they KoS or rob you then just kill you. Ive been hanging out in high pop servers just to have shoot outs because theres is nothing to do in low pop unless you want to run around looking for berries, Im sure once more things get implemented the KoS might go down but i doubt it, after this is a survival game, not only must you survive the land you must survive other players as well.

Ah this is missing the lone wolf players, I'm a survivor but I'm geared, if I kill it's a situational decision, hell if I think I'll get out of a bandit encounter in one piece I'll co-operate but if it's clear I'm not going to survive, I'll run, shoot, axe or anything to either get away or take someone with me, enjoy my ruined gear fucker's.

I'll help where I can but if I'm near a military building I won't hesitate to shoot or slink away, depending on the situation, I take pity on survivors and help where I can from guiding them to food and gear or putting them out of their misery if the situation calls for it.

If I end up in a group the encounter won't start with "friendly" it will be a simple "hello" with the two of us trading information to assess where the best place to go next. I am a little too trusting but if you say something that I believe is suspicious then I won't hesitate to shoot you in the back or ditch you when the opportunity comes up.

Mate... That's actually brilliant XD

Early today I was crawling in the brush and I saw someone about 200m out with their m4 out jogging up the mountain side towards my location. I dropped my dallas mask at an open clearing about about 50m away and dove into a nearby bush. When they crested the hill into the clearing they stopped with their weapon out and looked down at the mask. As soon as they did this I came over vicinity chat but didn't say a word - the song I played said enough.

The person froze and looked around for a minute after which they promptly shouldered their rifle and booked it back downhill the way they came. I reclaimed my mask and laughed to myself, every time you see this mask I hope the song eerily creeps into your head and panic ensues.

The game in this state is really what you make of it.

I think labels are silly, and the labels presented here are nothing new.

Each playthrough is defined by a list of choices I make until I reach my inevitable demise. Not by you, not by your labels.

DayZ is the purest carpe diem digital entertainment. Come what may, one life at a time, one day at a time...

Maybe in the future we see things more... organized, but the struggle for power and control will be even more fierce.

There are 2 types of "baddies", those who are new to the game and somehow manage to miss you 50m away unloading their M4 into you and people like me who one shot you from 600-800m away, your gear is never looted by me, believe it or not some people just enjoy ranged combat.

If the game dev's didn't want to encourage players like me then they wouldn't have made the mosin the most powerful gun in the game and then gave it the most powerful weapon attachment the long ranged scope....even the nerfed spawn rate is not really a problem if you know where to look.

I am a pussy... i run, always run, never talk and if the situation calls for it I will put someone down...I am probably missing the point because if I interacted then funnier/more interesting stuff would happen, and I might make some new friends but at the moment I am just happy to be alive and explore without some fucker killing me so I run!!!

80+ hours in this game and I added nothing in this virtual world.

I'm far up north and haven't seen a single soul for weeks, I might go mad .... who knows.

Saw a rabbit today go past me, he didn't even noticed me, I opened chat and I asked him if he need anything .... he said no......

I shot him
