Deslicious 0 Posted February 18, 2014 Hey everyone,so since I'm living in a dorm and I'm accessing the internet via my university's network, I have some limitations that I need to consider when connecting to certain services.I purchased DayZ and my problem is, that a high package rate will block my internet access for several minutes. This seems like a logical result of loading a server list with hundreds of servers, so I need to somehow limit the list to rather few entries, no more than 50 e.g. - suitable ones in the best case.Is there any way I can currently do this in this game? From the filter options I couldn't quite identify anything that would be of help there.Apart from that I was wondering if the game itself requires a high package rate during actual gameplay. I've heard so from other people but they may just have been disconnected after a delay for the reasons that I previously stated.I must say that I really hope this is not the case, as the 10+ MMOs that I've played here so far did not cause such problems, so it'd be kinda ridiculous if a normal multiplayer game did..Thanks a lot in advance, not finding a solution would mean I won't be able to play. :\Greetings,Des
Disgraced 1123 Posted February 18, 2014 In game, go to 'change server', then 'filter' at the bottom. Change the ping setting to something low like 50. Other than that, unless you filter for specific server identities like US3533 (which I do in the MOD but not here in the SA), I can't give you much more advice. My guess, though, is that somehow it's still polling all of the servers, just not showing them...
Deslicious 0 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) My guess, though, is that somehow it's still polling all of the servers, just not showing them... That's exactly the Problem. I can filter host names by "[DE]" for example (for German servers) which will yield very few results only, but the system still checks through the whole list. Also I cannot interrupt the process (scanning for servers) without closing the list. Filter option to directly limit the amount of servers loading and manual refresh only (I don't know if that's the case right now anyway) is what I'd need probably :/ Edited February 18, 2014 by Deslicious
Deslicious 0 Posted February 18, 2014 And there's probably no option to join via IP either, right?
Disgraced 1123 Posted February 18, 2014 There is. ON the same screen, just click the 'remote' tab.
Deslicious 0 Posted February 18, 2014 There is. ON the same screen, just click the 'remote' tab. Okay thanks, looks like I'll have to cut my internet connection when opening the server list though, the system blocks quite quickly. At least I'll be able to check if during gameplay the package rate is also too high... Disgraced 1123 Posted February 18, 2014 You can do this: In steam, right click on Dayz and choose 'Properties'. From there, you can select the 'set launch options' at the bottom. In the box, type: +connect <ip address:port> I just tried the following, and it went straight into game without the need to select: +connect 198.27.70.122:2372 Now I think you just need a method to find a server or servers online. You could keep a list in notepad and just paste in whichever one you want. Good luck.
Deslicious 0 Posted February 18, 2014 Now I think you just need a method to find a server or servers online. You could keep a list in notepad and just paste in whichever one you want. So first of all thanks, it seems to work - somehow at least. I get a weird sequence of loading screens and then for a second or so the player list and "hungry" etc. console messages pop up.After that I get a black screen with the "You are unconscious" message. I suppose that's the bug everyone's talking about right now?
Disgraced 1123 Posted February 18, 2014 Don't know. Sounds like you would get that even if you connected 'normally'...
Deslicious 0 Posted February 20, 2014 Okay, everything seems to work now, thanks a lot for your help. :)
