bobbyb85 3 Posted February 18, 2014 Hey, anyone else having a problem where the player seems to fix on a POV and you can't seem to shift it? To go in a specific direction, it seems you have to run sidewards :-/ Only remedy I have found is exiting and re-entering the server. Problem being the infamous server hopping timer. Tried aiming, lowing or raising my weapon and pressing Alt....all to no success....bug?
Disgraced 1123 Posted February 18, 2014 Double tapping alt locks in the same function as holding alt. Double tap alt again to return to normal. Same if you seem stuck on walk or jog. You might have right clicked (aim) without a proper firearm. Nothing seems to happen, except you can't get out of walk. A quick right click again clears that one up.
bobbyb85 3 Posted February 18, 2014 Thanks very much! Not seen the issue since, but will try this if it happens again.

A quick right click again clears that one up.I've fallen foul of both of these issues on more than one occasion. The other movement problem I have had several times is accidentally pressing V instead of C when wanting to transition from a crouch to standing. What happens is the player stops and does the slow vault animation which is really damn annoying when you're out in the open. To remedy this, I've set the vault key as 2xV so that I have to double-tap it to vault. Single taps now do nothing. (I love that DayZ/Arma allows double taps of keys, it effectively doubles how many keys you can bind to actions)
SaveMeJebus 164 Posted February 18, 2014 LoL double tapping lean can annoy the hell out of a person as well if you play on hardcore servers ... wonder how long I ran around looking like a drunkard before I figured out I was leaning to the left the whole time. lowkey 14 Posted February 18, 2014 the trouble is that you set your head position to something other then forward. this is done because you double tapped one of the numpad numbers. figure out the direction you are looking and double tap the key for that direction. this will dissable veiw being locked into that direction and return you to default forward view. happens sometimes when using bound keys instead of freelook to look around. This both avoids accidentally double tapping lean and also allows graduated leans (It also frees up two more keys to bind to something else (Q being PTT in SteamChat/TS)). I only wish that the lean was a little more pronounced, it doesn't seem quite enough to lean around a corner effectively.

TIR for the win as it also gives graduated zoom! Plus TIR frees up so many keys. Lean and zoom, freelook, all bound look keys from the numpad. Also, using a thumbstick set to analog for movement is a great idea, as it allows you to go from run to walk to moving so slow you do not even take steps and are completely silent. No need to do the stupids stutter step when sneeking up on a sniper. Edited February 18, 2014 by Amodo
Monkfish (DayZ) 339 Posted February 18, 2014 Analogue input for slow walk gives me an idea, thanks! I'm also planning on making my own TIR, not only to free up having to use the ALT key but also for immersion. I tend to play on 1PP servers and being able to look independently of mouse movement would be such an advantage.
