Crash on server join

I Have not been able to play standalone since release , my problem is , whenever i join a server it freezes on wait for host and eventually crashes , and my steam goes unresponsive. Ive had this problem for a long time , and tried every solution i can think of/ find 

 

I've verified my cache , re downloaded the game entirely, tried all the solutions online such as , turning down my graphics to the lowest , resolution changes and disabling v-sync. Running windows in compatibility mode also does not work or disabling "desktop composition"

My computer is capable of running this on high settings , so that's not the problem.

The recent Wednesday gpu memory leak patch did not solve my issue either.  

 

What else is there to try?

Managed to get some play time today ,seems like pot luck whether i get onto a server or not , someone on the forums has an issue very similar , where their internet cuts out when joining.
