Latest Patches Discussion - What You Like & Hate - Predictions

So as well all know, the latest 2 patches were very good and helpful, making it much cooler to play and not always have the same military loot, sadly (even though they are working very hard on it) server performance hasn't been optimized enough yet to add respawning loot and zombies. The latest patch did fix GPU leaks and fps and crashing problems, but we wont currently count that one.

Here are the patches we will be looking at -

*Note* The Latest Patch did not say this but walkie talkies now work and have many different channels and are the most amazing thing in the game currently.

 

So lets start with the bad stuff since there is not as much as it as the good stuff.

Its almost like Buddhism, The good deeds should outrank the bad deeds, and that's what happened with the latest one.

 

Bad Things-

 

 Server Hopping - I know this will sound a little nooby, but thing hard about it before you comment all pissed off.

I know that it isn't that amazing at stopping them, and it is probably a temporary way to lower server hopping, but it doesn't really stop it at all, just log out somewhere hidden and when you join a new server wait the 70 seconds or something in a bush or something. But really think about it, they made it hard to log into a server anyways even if you haven't server hopped and also, server hopping is the only way to get decent loot currently, it doesn't respawn so you have to server hop or wait for a server to restart and remember the name of it, and there's no warning for a restart yet. All in all, its just annoying to wait for not server hopping in the first place, or trying to let nobody get any loot.

 

Spawns - Spawning on the east coast, this isn't much of a problem since the new town with awesome buildings, Berezino, and NEAF, but I would like it if the Elektro spawn was amped a little more, cuz I've spawned there once since the patch that changed spawns, and have Cherno as a rarer spawn like the Novy Sobor spawn.

 

See we are already out of the bad things category, any other things? Comment them below.

 

Good Things-

 

New Clothing - The new clothing is awesome, instead of looking like a bandit for the end game gear, now you can look like a survivor and still have a good amount of room, it just helps to actually make me look like a hero on the streets of elektro helping out, instead of looking like a bandit that is terrible at the game :P.

 

New Sounds - The new sounds are much better, they make everything sound more realistic, and you can tell gun from gun a little easier once you get used to it.

 

New Weapons - Its easier to find a decent weapon now because there are more and also they aren't super militarized, sks, shotgun, blaze aren't very military, which is what I and probably many people who like being a hero/survivors want.

 

Radios - This is the best thing so far, as far as I have seen from a Frankie video I saw about 3-5 channels on the radio, probably more, at this point they are probably around the whole island, but will probably be optimized to only being a certain area.

 

Those are all the good things I'm going to list, there are many more but I'm listing the ones I think are most important.

 

Predictions - This is the best part now, we get to say what could happen, what will happen, and how we will play once or if they do happen.

 

Things We Know - 

 

Vehicles - DayZ is currently Running Sim 2014, they will be adding vehicles, if it was in the mod, be sure it will be in the game, now lets predict how it will all go down.

So, when do we thing vehicles will and should come, they should be in the patch that takes the game into beta, or before that, but before they add vehicles in they will have to have respawning loot, zombies, better performance, and added industrial item spawns to the industrial building. We will get more and more info without them even telling us when vehicles are coming, just by reading the future patches changelogs, I predict that the respawning items and zombies will come in the next 3 patches, the industrial items in the next 5-7 and vehicles in the next 10. Something like that, look at the recent about 4-6 patches, they've added plenty new items, server performance getting better, a new city, and the ones when the game came out, 2 military bases and 2 tent areas at NWAF and Balota AF, they are just setting it up to get better and better. Tell me your prediction for this in the comments below.

 

Base Building - DayZ needs base building, and there have been some hints/rumors that I've heard that are significant towards base building, one I have heard that I barely remember but it was that the DayZ Dev Team was "teaming" with some of the Epoch guys to make base building work, this could be not true at all, or it is and I may be saying it wrong, please help me out with this prediction in the comments because this is my most anticipated thing for the game currently. They will probably need good server performance, working tree cutting (that is hopefully more realistic than Epoch's), vehicles, and should probably be in beta when it is attracting more players.

 

More Guns - This is the most obvious thing, they have already added about 5 new weapons, so we wont discuss this.

 

New Cities & Buildings - They have added 4 new cities into the game and edited some older ones quite a bit, they have made many old buildings enterable and have added 2 new very good buildings in Svetlojarsk.

 

Predictions & Wanted Things -

 

New Maps - Ok, this would be awesome, especially since the new engine and graphics make the world look beautiful, some of the maps being remade would be amazing, like Namalsk, Taviana, Panthera, etc. It would need a lot of good server optimization though to be able to run some of the maps without terrible lag. My game sucked in the mod when I played Panthera, also they have said, but not confirmed, that there might be Utes in the bottom of the chernarus map for you to be able to swim or boat there.

 

New Buildings - New buildings would be awesome on this, they have made 2 new ones already so they will probably add more, but for different spawning points for different loot, new buildings would be awesome, like an old car dealership with a bunch of unfixable broken cars and then like 1-4 working ones that could spawn there. And new houses would be awesome on, not a remade map from ArmA, but a new map they make themselves, like a really cool residential one, new houses that could be fortified if base buildings comes and would be good to live in would be very cool.

 

More Items for Roleplay - Adding nice things that would help simulate you into a zombie apocalypse, like the new radio, would be really good, being able to make a survivor camp then radio out to people would be really cool, but what about more sustaining yourself aswell, like being healthy, not being hungry, etc. Adding sleeping items and tents that would not be deleted after a server restart but only after a wipe would be really cool.

 

Weather - They have already added the rain, but what about seasons, snow, hot etc, and your temperature would be affected too, and the different clothing could help you sustain your temperature, and also when it snows, it actually stays on the ground and builds, instead of just falling onto the ground and disappearing, but that also depends on the weather, plus, its Russia, its cold there in the winter.

 

Server Differences - They've already revealed a future plan of server host being able to customize there servers, the loot tables, maybe add some random buildings, etc. But what about each server having a different cloud? This would stop server hoppers forever and combat logging wouldn't be as safe. Every server would be different, say you wanted to a hero, bandit, and survivor at one time. Favorite 3 different servers, one would be one you would just survive on, the other could be one you could help out and be a hero on, or one you could go on and take away the stress of being killed after being nice and just be a bandit, also when combat logging, especially since they'll make it so that you cant leave the server so easy, would be dangerous to do, say your being shot at in a field and then your a little pussy ass dick and combat log, POOF, but then, you cant go on another server ghost around, and kill the person by being the worst player in the game, if you wanted to log back in, they could be waiting to punish you, so you log in, the timer comes on, and your already dead.

 

That's all I'm gonna make for today, I hope I helped some of you by showing some information, and if I missed something or you have another idea, post it in the comments below, the dayz community is one of coolest and worst at times, but you guys could really help and also if the devs haven't thought of this already, they could maybe implement it, but all devs think of everything, so they probably have already decided like everything, we just need to find out what that is, hope you guys got some good ideas from this too :D.

some good points, but i dont wanna see different hives just yet, as in the mod that leads to people not caring about their character as much.  as you said, i could be a nice guy 1 server, then just get a new character with all new gear for when i wanna run around cities deathmatching.  It should stay as if I want to go deathmatching in the city, i take my only character and all my gear and just have to risk losing it

 

for me, the biggest thing is more loot, then more zombies - that should lower server hopping, as people can find the stuff they want, and enough zombies that each new server is a threat as they would have to clear airfields etc each time before looting.  

then bases (at least camps, like the mod) so people can find home on a server, rather than just basing it on whats got the most/least players.  And vehicles of course just to get around faster, plus it adds to the atmosphere, im sure many of us in the mod have heard a car and suddenly panicked as you try to figure out where the sound is coming from

 

as for weapons, not a high priority as there is an ok selection so far, but seems everything is leaning more towards rifles, and I would rather see more close quarter weapons, like a new pistol, maybe an smg like an uzi or pdw, and a crossbow thats actually useful

More they add the better, if it's shit and don't quite work they can always take it out, try something different.

I am absolutely tired of having a server reset that I have been on for the last hour, join in and my character is out of wack so I exit only to end up with a 300 second timer.  At this point stopping ghosting and server hopping is secondary to being able to log in and play with your character being correct. We need to focus on getting the big bugs out of the way instead of implementing a punishment for combat loggers and jumpers. Not to mention if I do log out take a break come back 15 min later and have a 300 second timer to the same server I left is pointless. Why would there ever be a timer to the same server you left?

I'd like to see them push the ends of the map out further, then fill it with massive cities or another airfield or something. I know it'd annihilate everyone's computer to make the map even bigger, but I'd love to see that happen.
