Continuous Problems- Why I don't want to try playing

I followed the directions in this popular tutorial EXACTLY and the game still tells me I have 1.60.

I also get the infamous "Debug Forest" glitch whenever I go to a server that ISN'T running any beta patch.

So yeah, I love how this modification works once in a blue moon, and when it doesn't it's up to the players to fix it. Tell me I'm whining, I don't care. This game seemed fun but now it's utterly broken and ACTUALLY unplayable. Also, third person view makes my character invisible and in first person my wrist looks broken.

Can't connect? You did something wrong, don't blame the game for your own incompetence and/or impatience. It's fine to say "I'm having trouble, please help?", but this is not acceptable behavior. Please let the door hit your sorry ass on the way out.
