show people connecting and disconnecting again...

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately it seems to have become somewhat of a strategy for certain players to disconnect and reconnect when in standoffs. Previously, you could see the disconnecting and reconnecting, which tipped you off and gave you time to quicky adjust and prepare for somebody spawning in right behind you. I'm guessing because of clutter on the screen, that's been patched out.

So we lose sight of a guy in a firefight. He can't flank us, because we've got eyes on every possible place he could run to get on our flank. Unbenownst to us, he'd actually disconnected, got on our flank in a different server, then reconnected in behind us, and suddenly we have a hail of bullets coming from behind which kills two of our guys. As one of our guys gets some shots into him, he bolts into a bush and we tense up and prepare. After a minute, one of our guys in the server browser spotted the name we'd called out previously over TS, connecting into another server. He'd disconnected again!

We managed to grab the essentials off our dead comrades just before the server we were on crashed, and we followed the wounded server hopper into the new server where we found that he'd stumbled a few feet and bled out. Was a blessing that he'd hopped servers, because we got a serious haul of amazing loot off him (Heli crash loot).

tl;dr Seeing the connecting and disconnecting players has unfortunately become an essential warning against the tactics of some players, and it's hard to have eyes both in the game, and the server player list. Clutter is a small price to pay to avoid getting reamed by dodgy players.
