I want more zombies first before more players. This game is called DayZ..... the Z is for Zombies. Its a large part of why most people bought the game. I want a zombie survival game. Yes zombies are no match for players but this isnt a deathmatch FPS. Zombies allow for more interaction between players because it makes people work together more to survive. 

 

We need more zombies right now to find the right ratio of zombies to players. Once we have that then we can start scaling them up simultaneously. Currently there are too few zombies for the size of the map and the amount of players. I run into like 2 zombies every 5 towns. There should be 10 zombies in every town and tons more in cities and military bases.

What makes you think that? As long as sneaking and melee are the preferred methods of dealing with zombies, friends will be a liability, not an asset.

The whole idea behind survival is that finding other humans is a rare occurance. 40 player servers already make it easy to encounter other players. Yet we currently are seeing a shortage of zombies, while it's one of the major selling points of the game. So definitely zombies.

I agree mostly. This is Russia after an apocalypse (or during) not Manhattan during New Years Eve. I prefer the more The Road vibe of not seeing a ton of people and making it more suspenseful if I do see them. Instead of it being a BF4 map. But also, I'm ok with how everything is now until zombie pathing is corrected.

Over 100 hours inland.  5 total players seen.

I take it you play on high population servers?

 

Let's be honest here, the game is still an alpha. There are still many features missing that would motivate people to go north and spread out more. Yet if you want to interact with people, there are a few obvious high traffic areas. If you purposefully exclude yourself from those, then I am not surprised that the amount of encounters have been quite low. What's keeping you from going back to the coast? Even on low population servers, I see atleast a dozen of players each week if not many more.

 

Yet with 100 players, not only would you encounter way too many players in any given area to be immersive, but it would also mean zombies will be much less of a threat as the server will not be able to spawn as many with that many players on.

Yes, this & this!  Major towns should be full of them and noise should bring them in.  Risk vs. reward.  Atm, there's little risk from the environment aside from falling.  Zombies should be front and center and I'm sure they will be further down the road in the dev. cycle.  Put a 1000 zombies in Cherno and see who risks venturing into the city to snipe...

 

 

Need at least 10,000 extra zombies added to the map.  The more the merrier.  We need them to give up the positions of bandits and KOSers.  They might be less inclined to camp in the same spot for hours if they are at risk of zombies flushing them out of their positions.

 

 

From the point of view of player interaction (good or bad), more zombies are good if they force you to use your guns against them. Right now everybody uses axes on zeds, and nobody knows if there's another player nearby.

 

In the early days of the mod, before melee weapons, you would hear a makarov in the distance. First one shot, then a whole mag, then more shots, then silence. Did the zombies stop coming? Did the survivor die? You could go investigate, or run away, but it added to the atmosphere.

I would like more zombies. And for a select few zombies to actually be a threat. Make a few faster than I can sprint, so I HAVE to fight them. Also, make the military zombies lootable with ammo, etc.
