Kageru 18 Posted June 24, 2012 I reckon the infestation of PK's, who are really only interested in player kills, is stealing focus from zombies. And the zombies could both reclaim center stage, become more of a threat and help control PK activity. Though it also mimics the idea that fortifying an area can lead to conflict with a zombie horde. How about:1. Zombies are attracted by the smell of gunfire, so a silenced weapon does not guarantee non-detection.2. A combination of lots of powder residue / gunfire in one location, plus the constant presence of survivors in one location, makes it more possible multiple zombies will be spawned to go and investigate that spot. You can balance it so no powder gives you a decent AFK period before you are at risk.3. The chance is multiplied if you are firing from or into a zombie infested area.4. Investigating zombies being killed makes it more likely additional zombies will spawn, meaning survivors have to keep mobile. Trying to hold one location will eventually lead to it being over-run.5. Zombies will destroy obstructions or climb so that no spot is unreachable. It's a zombie mod, zombies should be a threat rather than a bunch of dumb livestock milling helplessly around buildings.I also have a foundation for co-operation suggestion.(edit cause I suck at thread names)
bgivenb 5 Posted June 24, 2012 Zombies smell the gunpowder? lol wut?
Kageru 18 Posted June 24, 2012 Basically having weapons that can bring the zombie threat to effectively zero (silenced, long range) makes them boring and trivial. And they're meant to be the center-piece of the game.
Ausrivo 0 Posted June 24, 2012 I like this, Its ment to be a PvE not a PvP game.

fml 29 Posted June 24, 2012 LOL @ attracted to the smell of gunpowder and silenced ammo not being silent.I suggest massive hordes of zombies. A Horde so large, it will take multiple players with military grade weapons to kill them.
jamerific 3 Posted June 24, 2012 Ok everyone stop suggesting the zombies need to be harder, they are already hard and broken as shit. They need to be fixed first before they can be tweaked. Too many times have I seen a zombie spawn 10ft in front of me, go through a wall or door without open it, or punching me through a wall and 1 shot crippling me. They are unbalanced. You say they are dumb livestock? You are not going into cities then cause they can be a real bitch when they are hiding around the corner and you THINK your sneaking by them only to have them suddenly run up on you. indian_crowe (DayZ) 8 Posted June 24, 2012 if the developers can somehow make the zombies more satisfying or fun to kill - like being able to shoot parts of them off and give them body damage (they will have to probably alter the engine for this) then that would definitely lower the number of PKers. even if they added in different types of zombies, like larger, stronger ones. Kageru 18 Posted June 24, 2012 In one of the E3 interviews I think Rocket said the Arma-II engine can do location based visible damage. It's just that it would need a lot of extra art to work on zombies (and would not be used on players).
