Identification Cards

Recommended Posts

I think it would be a pretty cool idea if everyone started out with an ID card. It wouldn't be mandatory to fill out. it wouldn't take inventory space, but it would be viewable by other players only after you die (and it can't be taken as an item) Let's say that in the settings menu, you had a few lines to put on the card:

Name:

Country:

Notes:

Again, you wouldn't have to fill it out, but I think it would be an interesting way to find out who it was that you just killed or whose stumbled upon, and make it easier to track people into the forums here if you are looking for them without giving everyone's steam name away. Sort of gives a slight backstory to that body that you are looking at..making it a little more human.

I'd imagine when the outbreak first happened, people would have been quarantined and given ID cards for tracking etc.

I know you can do this with pen and paper, but I like to leave other notes on my body for the eventual time that someone kills me and finds my body.

Thoughts?

Hopefully the nascent pen and paper system can scale up to include this. I like the idea that the game gives you the ability to be as anonymous or recognizable as you choose.

If everyone spawned with an ID card, you can bet that 50% of all players will, as a habit, promptly discard that on the beach when they spawn.

While p & p was working, I would write a short, outlandish character story on there as well. A little egg for whomever might find my dead body.

I'd like to see journals and a binder to hold multiple papers.

Some people like to rp as police. They could write mission reports or hand out tickets.

Book collecters, gun traders, medics, etc. might need a binder that holds multiple papers to keep track of inventory.

Anyway, it'd be cool if there was myriad stuff like this to create backstory and enhance interaction level.

I like this idea. Maybe, just maybe it would make people feel more personal about just killing anybody they see. I think if you kill someone and then read a tag saying am a doctor here to help you would at least consider not killing another guy on sight. I killed a player once after he asked me to due to broken legs which i couldnt help him with but i prefer not to just run around killing everybody i see just because they might want to kill me just for the fun of it.

binders also sounds good to me. about dropping them - that  is why I suggest the cards being optional since you wouldn't have to write anything. No need to discard, if you don't fill it out it will appear blank. maybe with a status symbol of (ruined) or (illegible)

also, P&P is working again :)
