Future Zombie Suggestions/Ideas

I have lately been thinking about some future improvements to zombies and how they interact and act within the game.

 

Now, I know there are already ideas for zombie improvements in the future, but I would like to share some of mine with the community.

 

At the moment, Day Z isn't very engaging for me. I know and understand that it is an alpha and I respect that, however with that said it feels like every time I play I follow the same routine over and over only to be shot by a bandit that doesn't even consider letting me live (especially when I have nothing but a shirt). 

 

I feel like the atmospheric feel of Day Z really evolves around the idea of 'struggling to survive' and a lot of this comes from the acts of running from zombies and killing them if possible. 

 

Here are some of the improvements I think will significantly change the way people struggle to survive in Day Z:

 

- Zombies have a life-cycle (already mentioned) and I very much like this idea of zombies, over time becoming more hungry, maybe running faster or walking inside houses and eating food, thus making it rotten. 

 

- Zombies spawning inside houses, making for some very close and intense encounters. Forcing the player to search for loot more cautiously. 

 

 - Zombies take dynamic damage, for example if it shot in the leg, it continues to follow you, crawling along the floor, maybe a bit more angry or 'worked up'. 

 

- Dead players, instead of disappearing, after time also becoming 'turned' into a zombie. with the gear on them still available to anyone that kills it. 

 

- Zombies acting more like zombies. At the moment zombies just stand in the middle of the street, or the field. I would like to see zombies being found doing things that a zombie would usually do, such as eating a dead player or animal, bashing on the door of a house that a player is inside, eating another dead zombie.

sounds promising, but we can only assume what the publisher have in mind... zombies (Z stands in the title!) will surely become a main threat in the game and be more like the extra panorama in the moment, its early access and if the publisher keep pushing their product to more and more perfection it will surely become amazing.

 

I think we should suggest more ideas in the less (key) developed features like Hunting and Crafting then in the totally obvious Zombies and Guns ;)

1. With the amount of respawns servers have, this would just be unnecessary programming.

 

2. Yep, sure, although make sure they don't keep walking through walls first :P

4. Eh, I guess the gear would make it have a worth, but sounds a bit too server intensive for such a small feature.

I was just searching for a topic specific to zombies spawning indoors. Nothing more disconcerting than opening a door at night, slowly panning your flashlight around finding  you're face to face with a zombie.

 

The last idea, in my opinion would add an interesting dimension. If once killed you became a player controlled zombie, indistinguishable from other zeds, and other zeds were not hostile towards you, until you're killed again. Perhaps you'd lose your ability to type/talk? (with or without optional respawn on non hardcore servers perhaps)

 

I realize it's a little elaborate, and I'm not really weighing the pro's/con's. Just a thought.
